Today we’d like to introduce you to Jadia Wilmont.
Hi Jadia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a young woman from the West Side of Atlanta. I come from entrepreneurs, hustlers, and women of melanin. I come from roots and bloodlines of heroic woman. I am a woman who wanted to break barriers and generational curses. In order for this to happen, I had to show my family that there is more outside of 285. I gained my degree in Early Childhood Education and Business Management. My professional background stems from Education to Project Management, now CEO. August 12, 2021, I lost my father. On that day, I vowed to myself and him. I would not settle for normalcy. I started Recovery Wellness Retreat in Atlanta, GA in 2019. The concept started with an instant need for dolls in the community that were suffering during their transition from the surgery tables to home.
I started small, servicing girls in the Atlanta area that were traveling from other states/countries. At the time, my vision didn’t expand beyond 285. I went on a hiatus. I moved to Orlando, Florida in 2020. I took time to determine if I wanted to expand in the states or expand internationally. After a year of failed conversations, meditation, prayer, and planning. I decided to expand to Cali, Colombia. I flew to Cali, Colombia in January 2021 to find the perfect space that would allow my clients to heal not only internally but as well as externally. It was very important that my space provide complete healing to each client that walked through its doors. While in Colombia, I met with several doctors, nurses, and consultants, but I had yet to find the perfect space. I went home feeling defeated. I took a few days off to reset my energy, to channel what I was looking to reserve from the universe. On a Monday, I reached out to an investor that was in Miami on business. He understood my business and had the perfect space. On Wednesday, I was in Miami closing the deal on what is now The Recovery Wellness Retreat.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all! I have lost money, lots of money! I lost friends. I’ve had mental breakdowns. Overall, there was always a light at the end of the tunnel. What I will say is that I am my biggest supporter. Through this entire process, I learned that strangers would support you more than family and friends. How can you blame them? They only see you in the light they met you in. I always knew where I was going. My light has always been bright. The only opinion that matters is mined. I don’t say it out of arrogance, but out of the experience. Trust your gut.
