Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristine Reed.
Kristine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I do not even know where to begin because my makeup journey is one for the books! I won’t go too far back, but I will start when I moved to Atlanta. I am originally from Chicago and I moved to Atlanta in June of 2013 to attend MBA School at Clark Atlanta University. I was super excited to be leaving my parent’s nest and starting a life of my own. Once I completed school, I went and bought into a makeup franchise Flori Roberts Cosmetics and let me know to tell you I had no clue what I was getting myself into. While all my classmates were getting big offers, I was preparing to go into a month’s worth of training to get my very own franchise makeup business. I was so excited, but I also didn’t know the hard work I was getting ready to encounter. I attended a month-long training program in Manassas, Virginia and upon completion, I had my very own makeup counter in Arbor Place Mall in Douglasville Georgia. I was booming in business in my very first week I grossed sales at $5K. Later leading to be the first franchise owner to gross $60K in three months and pay off my franchise dues within my first year in business.
I managed to maintain this business for two years and ventured off and opened my very own beauty bar in Douglasville as well. I ended up maintaining my salon for one year and went on and had to close my business and go back into corporate America due to personal issues of a failed engagement and other personal reasons that kept me from my dreams. I officially closed my business in 2016 and knew that this wasn’t the end of it. I started rethinking my angle in the beauty business and I knew that I wanted to go even further in my cosmetic career. I officially went back to the drawing board, and just last year of June 2020, I launched my mobile beauty business. Mobile Beauty Bar ATL launched where I bring the service to my consumers where they never have to leave their home and ever since I revamped, the business has been aligned. I provide mobile beauty services to my clients without them having to leave their own homes. I specialize in makeup, skincare, brows, and mink lash extensions.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been one heck of a roller coaster and has not been smooth at all. Some of my struggles throughout my journey have been maintaining my personal debt along with business expenses. To be honest, that is one of the major struggles throughout my cosmetic business journey is to see a profit and gain a following. I also feel one of the biggest struggles in my entrepreneurial journey is close family and friends not supporting me. They automatically think you made it, so they assume that they can come and stick their hand out. Maintaining and running a business is extremely hard, and people do not understand what it takes to elevate and grow.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mobile Beauty Bar ATL?
I have officially launched my mobile beauty service business, where I service my clients in the comforts of their own homes or wherever they need me to be. I specialize in brows, mink lashes, and makeup. I am always available for photoshoots, weddings, and all special events. I am proud of the most with my brand because of the convenience and also because I specialize in natural makeup. I believe in making the everyday woman enhanced and not a different person in the mirror. I take care of my clients, and I go above and beyond for every client that books my services.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
What is the most surprising to anyone is that I live in Atlanta with absolutely no family. I have been making these major moves on my own within the last seven years, and throughout all of my transitions, I seem to bounce back every single time.
