Today we’d like to introduce you to Lu Chea Diggs.
Hi Lu Chea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey of faith and relationship with God began through tragedy. At six years old, I lost my father. During that painful time, my grandmother witnessed to me about God’s unfailing love and introduced me to the power of prayer. I chose to believe in Jesus, even as a child. Within a year, I was baptized, and my relationship with Christ has remained the foundation of my life ever since.
By the age of thirteen, I was certain of my calling, even though it would be several more years before I formally stepped into ministry. The conviction was unmistakable. I stepped into that calling in 2005; during a season when women were not widely welcomed in many ministry spaces. Even in the face of resistance, I stood firm—confident in God’s voice and faithful to His purpose for my life.
In August 2014, I became the first woman ordained in my local church’s 127-year history—and I remain the only woman to hold that distinction to this day. It was a moment that was both historic and deeply humbling. Soon after, I moved to Atlanta and served faithfully at a megachurch for eight years, followed by 18 months at a smaller ministry. Even while serving in impactful roles, I felt God drawing me into something deeper—beyond position, beyond recognition, and beyond the familiarity of traditional church culture.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Much like any other endeavor, ministry has not always been a linear road. Losing my father at such a young age shaped me in profound ways, and stepping into ministry as a woman brought its own set of challenges. There were seasons of fear, loneliness, resistance, doubt from others, and moments when I questioned whether the weight of the call was worth the cost.
Being the first woman ordained in my church’s history came with both celebration and scrutiny. Not every door opened easily. I had to develop resilience, confidence, and a deep reliance on God’s voice over public opinion. There were personal seasons of stretching—times when growth felt uncomfortable and obedience required sacrifice. It was in those very seasons of stretching that deep healing and true deliverance took place in my life. During those seasons, I stopped being performative, stopped being “church folk” and got to know God for real.
Every challenge strengthened my faith and clarified my purpose. I am unorthodox in many ways, and that has shaped how I lead and serve. The culmination of those experiences gave birth to Charis Christian Ministries Inc. whose mission is to equip believers to be whole, healthy, and victorious in all their relationships through the authority and shed blood of Jesus Christ.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Charis Christian Ministries?
Charis Christian Ministries Inc. is a 501(c)(3) centered on victory. We specialize in healing, deliverance, and spiritual restoration for believers who love God but still find themselves battling fear, anxiety, broken relationships, and unresolved trauma, etc.
What sets our ministry apart is that I lead in an unorthodox way. I’m willing to address the issues many people avoid. I approach spiritual growth with both biblical truth and practical strategy. Our mission is to equip Christians to be whole, healthy, and victorious. That means we focus heavily on our identity in Christ, discipleship, prayer, emotions, and spiritual authority through God’s word and the power of the Holy Spirit. We don’t just inspire people—we equip them.
As a 501(c)(3) ministry, we implement practical strategies through several avenues—weekly Bible study, acts of service, retreats, individual coaching, intensives, and my book What’s Your Problem? (God’s Solution to Overcoming Fear and Anxiety). Each of these tools is designed with one purpose in mind: transformation, not just information.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that Charis Christian Ministries represents victory. It was birthed from, real healing, real daily relationship with Christ, and real obedience to his word. We are not polished for performance—we are positioned for impact.
I want readers to know this: if you are a believer who feels stuck, anxious, or spiritually fatigued, you are not broken beyond repair. Freedom is possible. Healing is available.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is wholeness—being spiritually grounded, emotionally healthy, and aligned with God’s purpose. I have learned that titles, platforms, and accomplishments mean very little if the inner life is fractured. True impact flows from a healed place.
My heart is to see believers live beyond survival mode. I want them to experience victory in their relationships, clarity in their identity, and confidence in their spiritual authority. When a person becomes whole, it transforms everything—their family, their leadership, their business, and their legacy.
We see this in the life of Lydia in Acts 16. Lydia was a successful businesswoman and a worshiper of God whose heart was opened to the message of Christ. After her conversion, she was baptized along with her household, and her home became a meeting place for the early church. Her spiritual transformation influenced her family, her resources, and the advancement of the Gospel. Lydia’s story teaches us that when one person responds fully to God, the impact extends far beyond the individual—it shapes households, communities, and generations.
At the end of the day, what matters most is hearing God clearly and finishing well—knowing that I was faithful to the assignment of spreading the gospel placed on my life.
