Inspiring Conversations with Nicole “Nico” Taylor of Titan Roofing Pros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole “Nico” Taylor.

Hi Nicole “Nico”, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from Niagara Falls, New York — yes, that Niagara Falls. One of the seven wonders of the world and the definition of a close-knit community. My entire immediate family lived within a five-mile radius my whole life, so I was raised with strong roots, strong values, and even stronger women.

The matriarchs in my family, my grandmother Mary Emma who raised me, my great-grandmother Alice Jordan, and my Aunt Rosemary J. Bass, were deeply rooted in faith, service, and community leadership. On top of that, I grew up seeing Black women run businesses like bosses. So by the time I was nine years old, I already knew: I wanted to be in business.

I followed that dream all the way to Kennesaw State University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Fun fact… the same month I graduated, I also landed my first job as an Assistant Manager at Wendy’s. While fast food wasn’t my forever lane (no shade to the fries), I quickly moved up to General Manager and learned the fundamentals of leadership, operations, and performance.

In 2005, I met my wife Renisha — and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

After Wendy’s, I joined Pilot Travel Centers, where I grew into a multi-location manager. That’s where I really mastered P&L strategy, team building, training systems, and sustainability — and discovered my love for sales. My locations consistently outperformed expectations, even turning around stores that were operating in the negative (which is pretty rare in that industry). I was recognized often, but I knew I still hadn’t found my true calling.

I wanted impact, flexibility, and a better quality of life, so I pivoted fully into sales.

That led me to Service Experts Lennox as a Territory South Sales Lead, and that’s where everything clicked. I fell in love with relationship-driven selling and perfected what’s known as the “one-call close” — a transparent, customer-focused approach that builds trust and delivers results. I was a natural. I spent seven years there, consistently reaching for the top every quarter. In commission sales, the sky isn’t the limit, it’s the starting point.

When that division closed, I knew I had struck gold in sales and wanted to pair it with a technical trade. Roofing was the next move.

In 2022, at 40 years old, I joined Premier Roofing as a Manager in Training. Learning a completely new industry during one of the hardest seasons of my life, including losing my grandmother shortly before my birthday in 2019. Instead of letting grief stop me, I did what I’ve always done: I got up and kept going.

That year taught me everything about roofing, from insurance claims to inspections to installations, but it also taught me a hard lesson. After a full year of managing, training teams, driving hours daily, knocking doors, running meetings, and completing installs, I was paid only $10,000 total. When I addressed it with leadership, nothing changed.

That moment was my pivot.

I realized I already had everything I needed:

The skills.

The business knowledge.

The sales expertise.

And now, the roofing industry experience.

So in 2023, Titan Roofing Pros was born as a DBA under my brokerage firm, 40AAM Brokerage.

Today, Titan Roofing Pros is a Black-owned, woman-owned roofing company serving South Georgia — and proudly run by women. My wife Renisha is our Director of Creative Marketing and Advertising, and I serve as Director of Sales.

We specialize in full roof replacements through insurance claims and maintain a 98% close rate. From start to finish, we advocate for homeowners in a system where insurance companies often try to minimize or deny what’s owed. We know the process inside and out — and we don’t stop until the job is done right.

What makes Titan different is our combination of:

Every challenge I’ve faced turned into strength. Every lesson became strategy.

That’s why I named it Titan, because this company was built through resilience, power, and an unstoppable mindset.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Struggles or obstacles will always arise. My journey thus far has been a lot of things. Easy was never an option. Obstacles are often inherited. One could look at being a black lesbian woman as an obstacle.
I believe life is a constant swing of the pendulum. As I continue to evolve I’ve begun to realize the obstacles aren’t what we should be trying to control.
We should be in control of who we are when the obstacles arise.

Titan Roofing Pros is a female owned black owned licensed and insured providing company based out of McDonough and South Atlanta servicing all of GA. With a 98% close rate Titan Roofing pros specializes in residential insurance claims and retail full roof replacements. Titan Roofing Pros is the voice for the homeowner in a process that often silences the homeowner and allows the insurance company to skate off with no liability. That’s where Titan comes in.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Atlanta is amazing. The city where dreams come true if you ask my opinion. I would say Atlanta has cities that feel a lot like home, small, close knit. While the city life downtown as well as swanky buckhead give you an Hollywood feel for the stars in the making! All of the amenities you can ask for or ever imagine. Make the most out of the experience and the opportunities in Atlanta are endless..
Atlanta is my home for over 27 years it’s where I earned my education and met my GA Peach; Atlanta owes me nothing!
