Inspiring Conversations with Precious Mathews of Inspired Living Interior

Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Mathews.

Hi Precious, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up I knew I was blessed with two gifts. I’d always had a love for psychology. The study of the mind and people is extremely intriguing to me. I have a strong gift of discernment so I guess you can say I knew ahead of time where my calling lied. But then, here there was, a burning passion for decorating. From my first apartment, to holiday decor, to the excitement of purchases my first home to see how well I could style it. I wonder how could I live in my calling, yet pursue my dream and passion of interior design. I wasn’t always fully confident in what it was that I wanted to do. Nor did I know how I’d get there. All I knew was this wife and mom of three, working full time at the CDC, while attending school full time at university of west Georgia- how on earth would I have time to purse the one thing that would never die on the inside. I started Inspired Living Interior with no clue on what I was doing on the business aspect. I remember speaking with a friend who’s in the same field and she would always encourage me to just put myself out there. Although we both shared the same fears of being put out there, I knew there wasn’t any other way to start but to just do it. So I created a social media account. Shared it with family and friends and the rest is history. I started out servicing family, a few successful clients in my home town, realtors, etc. I’ve worked with a host of repeat clients. Within 6 months of starting my business, I was contacted by Queen Naija and had the pleasure of styling her home as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. I didn’t expect it to. My expectations for my business has been pretty realistic. Although there has been seasons of abundance, there has also been plenty of lack. There were times where I wasn’t being contacted at all or wasn’t securing clients after in home consultations. But I never gave up. That’s the thing about me, I NEVER give up!

As you know, we’re big fans of Inspired Living Interior. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Inspired Living Interior offers luxury, affordable design services. I offer interior styling, home designs, virtual design services, custom pillows from residential projects to commercial. I understand that the true essence of design is about people, how they live and how it makes them feel. I want people to LOVE being at home. Therefore I provide services that brings sophisticated and cultivating designs to a client’s home and/or space. No project is too big or too small for me. My goal is to cater to clients from all walks of life. Whether you live in an apartment or just moved into a three-story home, I execute the perfect design to captivate the clients’ heart and home.

I’ve never worried of focused on standing out or apart from others who offer the same services. My main focus gaining trust with each client, standing on true values of morals and integrity. I truly desire to touch the lives of every individual I work with in some way. It’s more than just lighting and drapery. It’s a passion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Is it cliché to say I don’t believe in luck? As stated before, I’ve had ups and I’ve had downs. Even when I work with Queen Naija I felt like it was all a part of the plan to get me where I am today and to take me where I am going. I will work with so many more in the future and I welcome all of the highs and lows that comes with it because they shape and grow you as businesses owners.
