Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannell Murphy.
Hi Shannell , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I believe that “home” is about so much more than a house. It’s where families grow, memories are made, healing happens, and life unfolds. That belief has shaped chapters of my career.
For nearly two decades, I’ve had my real estate license (not active the entire time) and during various times on this journey, I’ve been honored to help families navigate one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions they’ll ever make. Along the way, I also became a Licensed Professional Counselor, which gave me an even deeper appreciation for listening, serving people with empathy, and understanding that every client’s story is different. Whether someone is purchasing their first home, selling a property they’ve loved for years, or investing in their future, I want them to feel seen, supported, and confident throughout the process.
That same passion led my husband and I to create Majestic Manor, our luxury vacation rental in the North Georgia mountains (Blue Ridge, GA). What started as an investment became something much more meaningful. We wanted to create a place where families could disconnect from the demands of everyday life, reconnect with one another, celebrate milestones, and make memories they’ll talk about for years. Having guests gather around the fire, celebrate birthdays, host retreats, or simply enjoy uninterrupted time together reminds me why creating spaces for people matters so much.
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been without challenges. I’ve experienced market shifts, business setbacks, balancing motherhood with entrepreneurship, and learning that success isn’t always a straight line. Those experiences have strengthened my resilience and reinforced that relationships will always matter more than transactions.
Today, I’m fortunate to combine my passions through real estate and hospitality. Whether I’m helping someone find the perfect home or welcoming guests to Majestic Manor, my mission remains the same: to create experiences that leave people feeling cared for, valued, and at home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. Entrepreneurship has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done, but it has also been one of the hardest.
Real estate is deeply connected to the economy, and when the market slows down, you feel it. There have been months when I didn’t close a single transaction. Those seasons were discouraging, especially when you’re still working hard but the results don’t reflect the effort. There were times I questioned whether I should pursue a different career or find another source of income because I wasn’t sure how long I could sustain the uncertainty.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that being good at your craft isn’t enough. You also need systems, consistent marketing, and a strategy that can withstand slower markets. Looking back, there are things I wish I had implemented sooner, and those experiences have made me a better business owner.
I’ve experienced similar challenges with Majestic Manor. Hospitality has its own highs and lows. Some months the property performs well, and other months we’re operating at a loss and covering expenses out of our personal savings. That’s the side of entrepreneurship people don’t often see. Owning a business isn’t just about celebrating wins on social media—it’s about making difficult decisions, staying resilient, and continuing to believe in your vision even when the numbers aren’t where you want them to be.
Those challenges have taught me perseverance, adaptability, and faith. They’ve reminded me that success isn’t built during the easy seasons; it’s built during the difficult ones, when you choose to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep moving forward. Every setback has made me stronger, and I’m still excited about what I’m building.
As you know, we’re big fans of Maxx Legacy Collection & Majestic Manor . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief: people deserve to feel cared for, whether they’re buying a home, selling a home, or escaping to the mountains for a weekend.
As a Realtor, I’ve been serving clients at various times since 2006. I work with first-time homebuyers, growing families, people who want to invest, and those navigating major life transitions. Real estate is one of the biggest financial decisions people make, and I believe my role extends far beyond negotiating contracts. I strive to educate my clients, advocate for their best interests, and guide them with honesty, transparency, and patience so they feel confident every step of the way.
My background as a Licensed Professional Counselor has also shaped the way I serve people. It taught me how to listen, communicate with empathy, solve problems, and build genuine relationships. Those skills naturally carry over into real estate, where every client has a unique story and every transaction comes with its own emotions and challenges.
Majestic Manor is another extension of that same mission. More than a luxury vacation rental, it’s a place intentionally designed for connection. Whether guests are celebrating birthdays, hosting family gatherings, planning retreats, or simply taking a break from everyday life, I want them to leave feeling refreshed, connected, and inspired. Creating meaningful experiences is just as important to me as creating beautiful spaces.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a sales number or an award—it’s the trust people place in me. Many of my clients become repeat clients, refer their family and friends, or simply stay connected long after the transaction has closed. To me, that’s the greatest measure of success.
When people think of my brand, I hope they think of integrity, genuine relationships, exceptional service, and someone who truly cares. My goal has never been to simply sell homes or book vacations. It’s to help people create places where life’s most meaningful moments happen.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is my faith, my family, and the impact I have on the lives of others.
At the end of the day, success isn’t just measured by income, awards, or accomplishments. It’s measured by the relationships we build, the way we treat people, and the legacy we leave behind. I want my children to see that success comes from serving others with integrity, working hard even when no one is watching, and never giving up when life gets difficult.
That perspective influences every part of my life and business. Whether I’m helping a family purchase a home, welcoming guests to Majestic Manor, or simply encouraging someone through a challenging season, I want people to feel valued. I want them to know they were more than just a transaction or a reservation.
Life has taught me that circumstances can change quickly. Markets shift, businesses have difficult seasons, and plans don’t always unfold the way we expect. That’s why I try to focus on what lasts—my character, my relationships, and the difference I make in the lives of the people I encounter.
If I can build businesses that create opportunities for my family, serve others with excellence, and leave people better than I found them, then I’ll consider my life well lived.
