Today we’d like to introduce you to Tevin Ryles.
Hi Tevin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I went to school in Dekalb county for elementary – middle school and graduated from Archer in Gwinnett. I graduated from college at Valdosta state in 2018. My main job now outside of my clothing brand has been working for a Public Relations Agency (The Purple Agency) as a publicist (Strategist/Artist Relations), and I do A & R working with a different artist, companies, influencers and things of that nature. I’m also a sneaker collector, which caused me to start working on my consignment store called Authorized No: ID along with two business partners.
I have a clothing brand that my business partner Husani Spann started in 2016 called Oberon Asscher. So I do PR / brand management for my companies (which is what I got my degree in Public Relations with a minor in Entrepreneurship but I’ve ALWAYS been into clothing, fashion, and sneakers.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting up my own business wasn’t the easiest, especially with the lack of funds coming out of school. Coming out of college in May 2018 started off as a struggle trying to find a job in my field. I was applying to literally anything I could find just to have some money in my pockets coming straight home from college, not really knowing what to do.
I ended up getting a job as a Direct Support Professional, which are people who work directly with people with physical disabilities and intellectual disabilities who aim to assist the individual in becoming integrated into his/her community or the least restrictive environment. The job I have now I simply landed by being at the right place at the right time, and it was a blessing.
We’ve been impressed with Oberon Asscher, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Outside of me working as a Publicist for the Purple Agency. I have a clothing brand that my business partner Husani Spann started in 2016 called Oberon Asscher. So I do PR / brand management for my companies (which is what I got my degree in Public Relations with a minor in Entrepreneurship but I’ve always been into clothing, fashion, and sneakers. The reason behind the name “Oberon Asscher.”
Oberon is a royal bear in German, which is why a bear is our main “mascot/logo.” Asscher is a Diamond that’s cut different and not your average Diamond, which is why that’s our moto/slogan “CUT DIFFERENT.”
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I loved sports. I was into fashion and clothing. I’ve always been big on family. I grew up in a church. I was in many talent shows. Dancing and singing as a kid were fun for me. I went to summer camps and made a lot of friends throughout the years. Always been social and involved.
