Kay, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately I have been enjoying spending time with my family & friends. I have experienced a few deaths the past 2 months and it quickly reminded me just how precious time is!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Kay Belle Designs was born out of the love and support of a strong community of users who have trusted us over the years. Established in 2015, we are a home décor brand dedicated to creating custom, one-of-a-kind products that bring warmth, meaning, and celebration into every space.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in the legacy of my grandparents and parents. As Barbados natives who moved to America, they embraced every opportunity with gratitude and determination. They never took anything for granted and worked tirelessly to create better lives for their children — and for the generations to come.

Their resilience and dedication inspire everything I do, shaping the values behind Kay Belle Designs and the way we pour meaning into every handcrafted piece.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Running a business is not an easy task — especially in today’s world of social media, where visibility often depends on constant content creation. There are seasons when business slows down or even feels dormant, and in those moments it can be hard not to give up.

But what keeps us going is our “why”: the joy of creating meaningful pieces, the pride of heritage and hard work passed down from generations, and the fulfillment of seeing our customers truly wowed. Every challenge reminds us that resilience is part of the journey, and every quiet season is an opportunity to grow, refine, and come back stronger.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what really matters to me is family, creativity, and impact. I care deeply about the people I love and always want them to feel seen, valued, and celebrated. They’d probably also say I have a passion for creating beautiful things — not just for the sake of beauty, but to bring joy and meaning into someone’s life.

At the heart of it all, I value authentic connections and the ability to make others feel special, whether that’s through a thoughtful gift, a kind gesture, or the work I do with Kay BelleDesigns.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will say that I lived a life of purpose, love, and creativity. That I used my gifts to bring joy to others, whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or the handcrafted pieces I poured my heart into.

I want to be remembered as someone who never took opportunities for granted, who honored the sacrifices of those before me, and who built something meaningful to pass on to those after me.

Most of all, I hope the story told about me is that I made people feel seen, celebrated, and cared for — and that through Kay Belle Designs, I left behind not just beautiful things, but beautiful memories.
