Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Christina Merrion of Atlanta

Christina Merrion shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Christina, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been doing “slow mornings.” My mornings typically consist of meditating, praying/reflecting, listening to Nipsey Hussle interviews, reading daily quotes, and reviewing my vision board.

This is something I wanted to incorporate going forward instead of just jumping out of the bed and rushing to do things.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Christina Merrion, but in the photography world, I go by “Chrissy Hussle.”

I have been a photographer for a few years now, but this year is special to me. It’s the first year that I’m fully freelance. Which has been a bit of an adjustment, but I’m the happiest that I’ve been in my career.

Currently what I’m working on is just finishing up the WNBA season on a strong note. Also, I’m focusing on expanding my brand a little bit more outside of photography. Stay tuned.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yeah. I think anybody that’s on any type of journey has had those moments. You have to keep it at just that though, “A moment.” In the words of Big K.R.I.T.,
“Life ain’t nothing but an EQ of highs and lows.”

Now, I’m at the point in life where I’m just going to keep wishing on a star until I become one.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Photography in general. I don’t want seasonal success. If that happens for a season, then what? I wanna be in it for the long run. Scoring a touchdown doesn’t mean you won the game. I wanna win the game and keep playing the game. The marathon continues 🏁

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
When you’re walking in your “why” that’s when you know you’re doing what you were born to do. I’m walking.
