Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Corisa Goodman of Milwaukee

We recently had the chance to connect with Corisa Goodman and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Corisa, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Absolutely — without hesitation. I would hire me because I embody resilience, leadership, and results. My journey hasn’t been easy: I’ve worked multiple jobs, built businesses from the ground up, and turned setbacks into setups. Those experiences gave me discipline, vision, and an unstoppable work ethic.

I don’t just talk about success — I create it. From being an entertainer , have felonies , running the streets and working dead end jobs to launching my own tax firm, service bureau, credit repair business, and multiple income streams like Airbnb, Turo, and trucking, I’ve proven that I know how to start, scale, and sustain.

More importantly, I lead with faith, integrity, and a genuine desire to see others win. I’m not just in business for myself — I mentor, coach, and empower others to build wealth and freedom too.

Hiring me means hiring someone who doesn’t quit, who knows how to turn visions into reality, and who will always find a way to win — no matter the circumstances. And that’s exactly the kind of person every team, partnership, or client needs.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely — without hesitation. I would hire me because I embody resilience, leadership, and results. My journey hasn’t been easy: I’ve worked multiple jobs, graduated from college for cosmetology and medical assistant , built businesses from the ground up, and turned setbacks into setups. Made mistakes and took many losses . Those experiences gave me discipline, vision, and an unstoppable work ethic.

Most importantly, I always put God first. My faith guides every decision I make and keeps me grounded through challenges and victories alike.

I don’t just talk about success — I create it. From being an entertainer, working in the industry , modeling , having felonies , running the streets at a young age , working in the healthcare world and doing tax preparations for other businesses to launching my own tax firm and opening a tax office in my home town located in Milwaukee after moving to Atlanta 6 years ago , becoming a service bureau, running a credit repair business, and multiple income streams like Airbnb, Turo, realestate and trucking, I’ve proven that I know how to start, scale, and sustain.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a dreamer with big faith and bigger ambition. A young woman who learned early how to take care of herself, hustle, and fight through challenges most would have folded under. Before the world labeled me by jobs, titles, or mistakes, I was a mother, a believer, and a visionary who knew deep down I was called for more.

The world tried to put me in boxes — entertainer, 9-to-5 worker, “just” a preparer — but I broke out of every box. Before anyone told me who I should be, I was already who God created me to be: strong, resilient, and destined to lead others into freedom and abundance.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
The moment I realized my story wasn’t meant to break me — it was meant to build me. Losing my loved ones (mom, granny , and my previous daughter at only 9 months ) surviving street life, facing felonies, grinding through jobs that didn’t value me — all of that was pain I carried in silence for years.

But when I started sharing my truth, I saw how it inspired others. That’s when I knew my pain was my purpose. Today, I don’t hide it — I honor it. Every loss, every setback, every tear became the fuel that powers me to help others build wealth, freedom, and faith-driven success.

My pain birthed my power, and my power is now my platform.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Six years ago, I left Milwaukee in pure survival mode. No plan. I broke my lease, quit my job, and left almost everything behind—just me, my two kids, and faith in God, not knowing how I would make it or achieve financial freedom.

Smart people are getting it wrong by playing it safe. Too many are overthinking, overplanning, and waiting for the “perfect time” instead of taking action. They stay stuck in jobs they hate, split revenue they don’t have to share, or let fear talk them out of ownership.

What they don’t realize is that the world is moving fast — and security doesn’t come from a paycheck, it comes from faith, strategy, and multiple streams of income. You don’t need all the answers to start, but you do need courage to step out.

I’ve seen brilliant people stay broke because they didn’t trust themselves enough to bet on their own vision. Meanwhile, the ones willing to take risks, learn, and fail forward? They’re the ones building empires.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. Because my drive doesn’t come from applause — it comes from purpose. I learned early on that the world won’t always clap for you, and sometimes the very people you expect to cheer will doubt you instead.

But I also learned that when you give your best, you’re planting seeds that God will bless in His timing. The recognition, the success, the impact — that all comes later. What matters most is showing up with integrity, consistency, and faith, even when no one’s watching.

I don’t move for praise. I move for legacy. My best isn’t for approval — it’s for my children, my clients, my community, and the generations coming after me.
