Devontay Eberhardt shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Devontay , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
The knowledge and understanding of video software is such a cool, creative and hard thing. The complexities that you try to comprehend with the system is insane, but once you crack the code, it’s such a really good feeling. Building that knowledge is something that a lot of people don’t see.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Devontay Eberhardt owner and founder of Dougiekingxx Productions.
The independent video business is not like any other because the sole purpose is to provide quality videos for those who can’t afford it. These are artists before they hire managers or get signed to labels.
I’ve worked with a number or high profile clients: senators, government agency executives, big rappers and have been booked all over the country for filming gigs.
I also work part time on major films and TV shows like Paramount Pictures project Mayor Of Kingstown and Netflix original movie RUSTIN. And bring that experience to my clients.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I noticed a lot of people are selfish and have high favoritism. So one thing I decided to tackle with my business is to treat everyone with respect no matter their level of accomplishments or success. It’s interesting how many people don’t do that.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The only time I ever thought about giving up was in the beginning when I only had about 7 clients the first 2 years of starting up. That soon changed in 2020 I ended up with over 100 bookings and even had to hire people to help with the load.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Talent and popularity are not always the same thing.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow my clients would miss the respect and extra effort put in for the projects I’ve done.
I always go the extra mile.
