Gamesia, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
I don’t think I really have normal days because I feel like I’m always just winging it. I do make sure to write down all the things that I need to get done, but you know how it is when you try to plan. I know it may sound kind of bad, but I really just be grateful that I woke up and I have another day to be greater than yesterday.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a hiphop/rap artist and I go by the name Meme. I have a unique sound and I like to use music in different ways to express emotions as well as to manifest my life. The community that I’ve been building is Baddii Wit Da Fatty to promote self love for women. I feel that we as women go through a lot and sometimes we need someone to remind us that we are them girls! This is another reason why I use the tag Baddii instead of my artist name in my songs, because I’m representing women. I feel that we should definitely toot our own horns every now and then. I have a single out right now called “Don’t Wanna Be Sad” on all major platforms. I have a new single called “Keep It Cute” coming out on my birthday on December 1st so y’all look out for that!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I don’t think I’ve ever allowed anyone to tell me who I had to be. I’ve always been head strong with who I am as a woman. I feel that it is very important to love on yourself and know who you are as a person because that will allow for you to know what you want and don’t want, as well as what you’re willing to put up with.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are a beautiful, intelligent and amazing person. You work very diligently to get things done. I would also tell my younger self that everyone does not deserve to experience your sweet, genuine character because some people will take advantage of it.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Oh absolutely! I’m a Sagittarius. We don’t know how to be fake! I keep it all the way authentic.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I don’t tend to regret anything because everything I went through shaped me to be the woman I am today, but the only thing I can say that I would ever regret is if I didn’t take a chance at whatever it is that I ever wanted to do in life. I always shoot for the stars!
