Gem Marc Collins shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Gem Marc, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Being with my people. Having fun together and living. Playing Super Smash at Old Fourth Ward or line dancing wherever the music is. Life is full when you connect with others.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, a child of GOD, I am Gem Marc Collins. Gem with a G and Marc with a c!
I’m not your average guy. Life is my movie and I refuse to live it in a normal way.
I am the kid with a million dollar smile who you’ve seen on your screens big and small.
I am here to show freedom. We do not have to live for anyone else. Let’s be free. Let’s grow. Let’s flow.
My first self-produced film is set to premiere late 2025, and I have a special project set to shoot in October that I need all of ATL to show out for!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I won Homecoming King in Highschool, and when I won, I hit my signature dance “Hit The Marc”. This was after the entire school was shouting Hit The Marc.
I knew then my creativity and my heART mattered too.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I almost gave up when I missed getting my International Baccalaureate Diploma by one single point in highschool.
I was devastated.
I worked hard and got so close. I leaned on God and I did not give up on me. I couldn’t.
Not when I knew I was destined for GREATER.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! I love who I AM. It’s raw and I do not have to push it. It started being like that once I told myself I do not care to do what everyone else is doing.
I am drawn to people who are original and raw. It’s a fewer than more out there. I am here to create a new system. Freedom. Who you are publicly isn’t for likes and follows. That’s corny.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My Light. From God. From who I AM. From who loves me.
I am full without any of these things because I’m not attached to them.
