Good morning Holly, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
The world and Social media is moving to fast for any business owner to stop. I am always chasing for more business and keeping my photography business strong and growing. If you stop promoting your self and your business then you will stop growing. Its important to always keep yourself relevant and posting on social media and meeting new places and people. I absolutely love meeting new people and hearing their stories and life experiences. I love my job, i couldnt see myself doing anything else. I have poured my life and soul into this business of mine for 15 years now and i dont know how i could ever do that again with another business. I love what i do. I photograph anyone, any business, and any style. We photograph almost every type of photography people need weather its for someones business, big or small business or your family or events/parties, i got you covered. And because of that, people hire us for everything and we stay busy year around.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My brand is very simple but unique. I would say we photograph for every style, every budget, and every person. We are a one stop shop Photography Studio. HD Photography’s client list grows everyday and we have expanded in many different fields of photography. HD Photography photograph’s around 250 photo shoots a year. We photograph in Our Studio and also On-Location at any location of your choice. Customer service is top priority, no need to great, no job too small. I travel to any destination worldwide to capture your moments. Every image you receive will be a unique and treasured memory. We strive to get to know our clients, with a core belief that personal touches produce the best results. I edit every single picture and manage what my clients see and receive every visit. Our goal is not only to produce the exceptional images you deserve, but an enjoyable experience as well. We strive to do what ever it takes to ensure that you have a great experience and that your moments are forever capture exactly as you remember them. I bring that experience to every shoot I do, whether its big or small. Even then you are usually so uncomfortable in front of the camera, you will not be this time. I will make you laugh, help your confidence, and make sure you get awesome pictures that show your true self. You will get that WOW effect every time at HD Photography. It’s a powerful confidence booster that allows you to see yourself in your best light, quality and from a perspective you have never seen yourself before.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
It was my mother who taught me my work ethics. She is the hardest working person i know, she runs laps around anyone and any person i know. She will work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week and then go home and still cook dinner and clean and find time for her family, children and grandchildren. She is selfless and always trying to help others. Seeing her my whole life work so hard and give us the world even when she didnt have it to give but she still did anyways, is what i want to do for my kid and family. We never wanted or needed for anything even now as adults, she is always there helping and always one call away.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes as a business owner, you have rough years or months especially in the beginning. But i do believe in keep going and putting in the hours and work and dedication and consistency, you will have a successful business. You have to believe in your work and yourself and once you can do that, you can do anything.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
I see so many people saying niche down and only shoot one thing. Be a wedding photographer and do nothing else. I completely disagree. Learn to shoot it all. Learn to be good at it all. Keep practicing your gift. Push your self to be good in all fields of photography. There is nothing wrong with just shooting weddings but i feel like thats got to be a little boring over time.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I have alot of people say, OMG i want to be a photographer, its so easy and fun. Just get a camera and go have fun shooting and traveling. NO!!! Thats not all it. You have to run the business, social media, editing, emailing clients, find clients to hire you, etc.. Its not easy, it can be fun sometimes but there is alot of work that gets put into a photoshoot. There is a lot of behind the scenes things people dont think about before and after the photo shoot.
