Hi Jay, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is the most important value to strive for, because it’s during the right thing, even when no one’s around and I feel intelligence and energy comes with it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well hello, I’m Jay King and I have quite a few hobbies but that’s what makes me, my story, & my life unique. First and foremost , I’m a mom of three. (No matter their age, they’ll be my babies for life) anyhow, I’ve been in the beauty world for some years now and I do a little of everything, nails, makeup, hair, brows. I make custom wigs, wig-caps, makeup & more. I have 2 foundations. A makeup company and an online boutique and recently, I became an author of my first novel “The Gurl Behind the Makeup.” Which I am currently turning into a screenplay for film adoption. Although I would love to talk about everything , I really wanted to engage about the right now and chat about what’s exciting at the moment in my life , which is my novel.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I think the moments that really shaped me to see the world, and that continues to shape me to see the world, is death. It humbles you, it aligns you, and it makes you want to do something with the time you have left. It makes you appreciate life, the world, the people around you, and the little things. Including, a fresh breath of air.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“You’ll get there, remember to enjoy the moment and what’s around you.”
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely yes, what you see is what you get.. A indomitable, foundational, regnant, unflappable, luminescent woman.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
.. Probably everything, nothing would really matter anymore. Knowing me, I’ll take that time to go spend it with family and nature and write my last book…
