Hi Mikel D., thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Who are you learning from right now?
My two year old daughter. Every day I learn more about how to be curious and how little I know about the world as she asks me questions.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

Mikel D. Melwasul is a co-authorship working on the Galvorn Saga. An Epic, Nobledark, Rural Fantasy book series. Melwasul is composed of Mikel and Dave. Dave is an army veteran with an English Degree and a love of sci-fi, Mikel is a disabled criminology major and father. Together they’re working on a genre-breaking fantasy series about a magical apocalypse in our world.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My Dad. He had five boys, and our mom home schooled. My Dad also owned his own company but it was solely operated other than when he brought me or one of my brothers along for summer. Working in a small, metal trailer in GA summer heat developed more character than I know what to do with, which is why I write. – Mik

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That if you’re suffering with friends even if you fail the journey and bonds that result are worth it and will make future success easier.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The Galvorn Saga. We’re taking this beyond a singular book series, this is going to be franchise even if it takes my whole life. We’re working on several ways to expand into that, including a board game and some other fun surprise projects. One Day we want to bring other authors into this world as well.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Social Media. I’d spend the time writing and with my family. It’s a necessary evil right now for getting my work out there, but I’d change the focus.
