We recently had the chance to connect with Rosa Gonzalez and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Rosa, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Good day, a normal day for me is Waking up and before getting up from bed its wondering how I can make my day smoother. I tackle the house chores first and get my self together because I have a personal theory that if you feel like you are put together you can think. Afterwards I began to check my social media to see if there are open orders to ship out. And I update my website with inventory and make candles if I need to. After this I check emails and get important tasks first our of my way. A normal day for me is constantly doing productive matters. I focus on the important tasks first.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Rosa Gonzalez I live north Georgia in a small town Dawsonville. I am 34 year old with a Horticulture degree, Plant lover. I am a candle make and I run the business all by myself and engage all my candles with florals and woody scents. My candles are unique because they are reusable unlike store bought candles. My brand only makes Organic Soywax in reusable pottery mugs with designs. Currently I am working on growing my sells and each year I attend more events and festivals to get my brand out there.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that really shaped on how I see the world was about 5 years ago. I started a business of landscaping with my husband and customers began to ask basic questions such as annuals and perennials and we had no idea what those terms were. That’s when I began to question my self like: Why don’t you know? What can you do to learn? That’s when I joined a local college and began to learn about it and I felt wonderful learning and having all answers to question. That’s when I told my self that the sky was the limit if i put time and effort to something I want to do. And that is where the candle business started for me. I put all excuses to a side and began to do something I enjoyed. It was a learn and fail at first and invested large amounts of money but it was all worth it at the end.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
What changed my mind after failing hard was learning that failing was part of learning. It took me years to understand this and there are times that I still question my fails but I try to maintain myself positive and just understanding that it is ok to fail helps.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version people see of me is the real me. I don’t treat people differently. I treat a stranger just the same way I treat a friend. I have a very our going personality and click quickly with anyone.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Sell all goods and start traveling the world. Go out there and experience different angles of earth.
