We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sincerely Tokyo . Check out our conversation below.
Sincerely Tokyo , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Well this yr Jan 2025 i switch careers and decided to go for my 3rd dream and that is to be a actress and work on sets being a sfx makeup artist and wardrobe. And now I have done a total of 10 movies and 5 of them working on set as a sfx makeup artist. Sometimes I still be in awe how my dream really came true in less than a year at almost 40.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
So hi my name is Mecca I go by Sincerely tokyo which is my Clothing company. I am a Hairstylist by day and a sfx makeup artist on sets by night. I also started my podcast again Jan 3rd of this year 2025. Which i air every Friday at 6pm on all my social media platforms. I also so outside media for events I now have a sponsor for my podcast. The company is call ‘ Watch my media tv. So far I’ve had people like javon Johnson from the tyler perry show ‘The Oval’, Fat from the group ‘Shop Boyz’, etc. My first big move to date is the movie ‘Twins’ by Lil boosie i was his special effect makeup artist for that movie. That’s something I am proud of as well.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks bonds between people is being disloyal or not being a supportive friend. As a content creator we put alot of work into our craft. We meet people who are like minded but later secret competition comes into play. See im a girls girls I want to see all my friends make it and when I have opportunities I think of them. But im learning to worry about me and my brand first because honestly to restore its worthless to me. I rather keep moving forward with people who really want me to win. Which is good for your mental health.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
In 2015, I lost my daughter at birth. A lot of people don’t know that, but it’s a part of my story. I often think about the “what ifs”—what life would be like with her, what she’d look like. I go hard every day as if she were here, because I had big dreams for us. And those dreams haven’t stopped.
Fashion design was something I always imagined doing with her, and even now, every time I step into my creative space, I think of her. That’s what I miss the most—what could’ve been.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
If you asked my closest friends what matters most to me, they’d say my career—no hesitation. I take winning seriously in everything I do. I have big plans for myself, and I know God does too.
I’m not stopping until I reach my goals: becoming one of the top podcasters out, making my fashion brand a household name, and leaving my mark in the film industry. I work toward that every single day.
“No excuses, only results”—a mindset I learned from a good friend named Sebastian, and I live by it.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I’ve always given my all, even when there’s no applause. I’m doing that now. Being multi-talented comes with its own challenges—people constantly try to put me in a box. But that’s not the path God created for me.
Yes, I’m an amazing hairstylist—but I’m just as powerful as an actress. I don’t limit myself to one style or type of role—I simply act. The same way I thrive in journalism, I shine just as bright as a fashion designer.
I’m a one-stop shop—I show up wherever my gifts are needed. That’s why I give everything my best: because I owe that to myself.
And truthfully, I’m so proud of me. I don’t look like what I’ve been through—and that’s strength in itself.
