Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with ZI3RE (Zy – Ear) of Atlanta, Georgia

ZI3RE (Zy – Ear) shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning ZI3RE, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Right now, the single thing I’m most proud of is my new album ” You Don’t Have To Be A Bird To Fly” – which should be available everywhere for everyone to experience this week! This project feels like the period at the end of a well written book. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been very consistent, taken very meticulous steps, conducted a lot of market research and innovated all of my promotional content to help me build a fan base that would not only anticipate but appreciate this body of work as much as I do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My Name is ZI3RE (zy – ear) and I’m a self-taught, independent musician/audio engineer based in Atlanta, Georgia. I come from a small town in Maryland called “Chestertown”; and a fun fact about my hometown that’ll really put things into perspective is the fact that there was only a population of 5,000 people the year I was born and there is still only a population of 5,000 people there today.

I’ve always had the feeling I was one of the chosen ones and for a while I would humbly ignore the signs and assume my trials/tribulations were just as prevalent as anyone else’s but after more than 10 plus years on my musical journey I can say without a doubt that everything happened for a reason, there was no man better for the job, & everyone reading this will remember the name ZI3RE for the rest of their lives.

My mission statement is something that I feel like everyone should always remember; not only because it can be applied to any life situation but also because it happens to match the title of my new album “You Don’t Have To Be A Bird To Fly”.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
As far back as I can remember it’s always felt like I was watching myself grow up as opposed to gleefully being caught up the situations and experiences that made me the person I am today. Very early in my life journey I was able to realize that this world is built upon titles; and with titles come expectations – that we often do not place upon ourselves but end up falling victim to.

With all that being said I genuinely feel as though I was able to develop enough gall and insight at a young enough age to where I never even gave the world a chance to tell me what they thought I ought to be. Instead, I “took life by the horns” managed to keep my head up, be myself and strive for greatness so that one day I could tell the world who I am.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could only say one thing to my younger self it would be “You Don’t Have To Be A Bird to Fly”.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think if you asked my inner circle what matters to me the most, they would probably say my time. For those of you who haven’t had the chance to meet me prior to this sit down; I’ve had a lot of my time “robbed” and or forcefully preoccupied by life’s circumstances up until now. Although I stepped up to every plate and never wavered on my career, I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel like I missed out on so many people, places & things.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When it’s all said and done, I hope to be revered by the fans of music as one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a microphone. I hope to be acknowledged by my peers as a worthy opponent, & I hope to be remembered by the world as a “stand up” individual who was always himself and left no stone unturned.
