Life & Work with Anderson Smith of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anderson Smith.

Hi Anderson, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Anderson Smith has been drawing and creating since he could remember. After a move to Atlanta in the early 2000’s, he began photographing the up-and-coming culture of Atlanta in and around Buckhead. Following his career as a photographer, he began his endeavors into mixed media art, focusing specifically on collage work. Through showcasing his artwork, Smith spent time learning and participating in the Buckhead arts scene, specifically within galleries. Anderson Smith then embarked on a journey to become a gallerist himself, focusing on harboring the talents of local artists around Atlanta. Gallery Anderson Smith opened in Buckhead Village September of 2023, then opened in Midtown in January of 2026. Since opening it’s doors, the gallery has amassed over 30 represented artists from Lagos, Nigeria to Bologna, Italy, to Vancouver, Canada.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say the main challenge is wearing two hats. Being an artist as well as a gallery owner has it’s challenges trying to balance the two. From managing artist on the roster to running the day to day of the business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is highly multidisciplinary, blending various creative mediums to develop a unique artistic approach that defies a single category. I focus on integrating diverse techniques to create cohesive projects that reflect a multifaceted perspective.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The biggest credit goes to my late fiance’ Oksana. She was the one who saw what I didn’t see and was my biggest support system.
