Hi Charron, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Writing was never something I aspired to do; it just came naturally. As a child, I would write poetry to share my thoughts or emotions because I always felt that speaking them would either cause me to be ridiculed or judged. I was a child that really cared what people thought about me. So, instead of fighting for my voice, I just spoke through my pen. After winning a poetry contest and having my poem “Alone” published in the publication, “Tears of Fire”, I felt motivated to continue writing. As I evolved, writing poetry turned into writing articles for magazines, writing song lyrics, authoring books, writing scripts, and now children’s books. So, what started out as a form of expression, has now birthed a legendary and profitable business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is anything ever really smooth? Some would think that being a writer, life is great because all we do is write. But when you add publishing, branding, marketing, and advertising, that’s when things get tricky and expensive. Unless you are a writer connected to a traditional publisher, corporate company or attached to a media or entertainment firm/agency, financial backing and media support can be your biggest challenges.
For me, I have learned the power of marketing and that has allowed me to create some amazing campaigns, media opportunities, and various exposure through networking that has eliminated a lot of the burdens that many writers face.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Let’s just say I am a versatile writer. I have published books within the Poetry, Inspirational & Personal Development, Business, Children’s, Devotional & Journaling, and Self-Help. But my books are truly for anyone who is looking to be inspired, motivated, and encouraged. I write based on reality, so it’s no escaping life when reading one of my books. My stories walks you through situations that may be holding you hostage, bondage, or just adding to your stress. I use my experience, overcoming, and wisdom to offer a different perspective in order to help you do things different, but better!!!
But out of the 28 books I have authored, I am most proud of my children’s book series, “The Adventures of Michelle”. This seven-book children’s series starring Michelle is an amazing way to introduce a child to travel, learning a foreign language, entrepreneurship, politics, and history… For me, children’s books gave me permission to tap into my inner child. For instance, Michelle is my middle name and every single book is a reflection of my seven-year-old goals, dreams or some of the things I enjoy as a person.
