Today we’d like to introduce you to Dionne Perry.
Hi Dionne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up, I never learned how the credit process worked and the importance of maintaining a good credit score. Once I became an adult, I studied everything I could about the credit process. It was when I was denied an automobile loan that I understood that credit impact every financial decision in life. My life changed when I started understanding how the credit process works. That is when I realized I need to share what I learned with others, particularly teens.
Along with publishing Credit-Lit, I’ve also developed Credit-Lit Ambassador programs for empowering teens and for educators, counselors, community activists, financial advisors, and other adults interacting with teens to help educate them on how credit score process works.
Credit-Lit was recently awarded the Mom’s Choice Gold award. The Mom’s Choice Awards® (MCA) evaluates products and services created for children, families and educators. The program is globally recognized for establishing the benchmark of excellence in family-friendly media, products and services. The organization is based in the United States and has reviewed thousands of entries from more than 55 countries.
Around the world, parents, educators, retailers and members of the media look for the MCA mother-and-child Honoring Excellence seal of approval when selecting quality products and services for children and families.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The challenge I faced pursuing my dream was finding the time and energy to work on my dream of writing and publishing Credit-Lit.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have a bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, and Development, a master’s degree in Human Resources, and experience as a licensed mortgage broker. Over the past twenty-five years, I’ve dedicated time and effort to helping adults and teens understand the importance of maintaining a good credit score.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
One of the most important things I’ve learned while I was in isolation was to take care of myself and to devote more time to myself. Also, I learned it’s very important for us to be kind to ourselves and to others.
