Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace De Silva.
Hi Grace, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story began in Los Angeles, where I immersed myself in the world of film and television. Eager to learn every facet of the craft, I worked in casting, production, assistant directing, voice-over, set design, and acting—both behind and in front of the lens. Those early experiences shaped my understanding of storytelling and gave me a unique perspective on the creative and technical elements that bring a project to life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many creative careers, there were seasons when work came easily and others when it didn’t. Through it all, filmmaking remained a space where I could think creatively, solve problems, and tell meaningful stories. One of the greatest challenges of this industry is its inconsistency. To pursue your own projects, you must be willing to adapt, wear many hats, and find ways to support yourself while raising funds and bringing your vision to life. Those experiences taught me persistence, resourcefulness, and the importance of believing in a story long before anyone else does.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work centers on storytelling across film, television, commercial, and digital media. I am an actor, filmmaker, voice-over artist, and content creator with experience both in front of and behind the camera. Over the years, I have worked in casting, production, assistant directing, set design, voice-over, and acting, immersing myself in every aspect of the filmmaking process.
My journey has given me a unique perspective on storytelling. I understand what it takes to bring an idea from a simple concept to a fully realized production. I am passionate about creating stories that entertain audiences while exploring real human experiences, relationships, and the complexities of the world we live in.
I am currently developing my first feature film, The Echo, a story that explores the consequences of belief, identity, and the search for truth in a rapidly changing world. This project represents years of experience, creativity, and dedication coming together into one vision.
I am currently seeking funding, sponsors, and supporters who believe in independent filmmaking and the power of original stories. Bringing The Echo to life requires a community of people who want to be part of creating something meaningful—from investors and partners to individuals who believe in supporting filmmakers and bold ideas.
What sets me apart is my ability to wear many hats. Having worked across different areas of production, I bring both creative vision and practical knowledge to every project. I understand filmmaking from multiple angles and believe that the best stories come from collaboration, resilience, and a willingness to take risks.
I am proud to be building this film independently and creating an opportunity to bring a unique story to the screen.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality that has been most important to my success is adaptability. The film industry is constantly changing, and building a creative career requires the ability to evolve, learn, and find new ways to bring ideas to life.
Throughout my journey, I have worked in many areas of production—from casting and assistant directing to acting, voice-over, and developing my own projects. Each experience taught me how to approach storytelling from a different perspective and how to collaborate with people across every part of the process.
I believe resilience is equally important. There are many challenges in the creative industry, and success often comes from continuing to create, even when the path is uncertain. My ability to stay curious, keep learning, and turn challenges into opportunities has allowed me to grow as an artist and filmmaker.
Ultimately, my passion for storytelling and my willingness to keep showing up have been the foundation of my success.
