Life & Work with Jessica McCrory of Atlanta, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica McCrory

Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a passion for creating, connecting, and making an impact. My professional journey started after completing my master in Higher Education, where I honed my skills in relationship building. Eventually, I found my way to a tech startup, where I now serve as an Operations Manager. In this role, I’ve built processes from the ground up and helping the company grow has been something I’m deeply proud of.

Outside of my 9-to-5, I’m a micro-content creator on Instagram (@bornwithahalo and @halohobbies), sharing my love for travel, wellness, food, and just my every day life. My passion for fitness grew as I started training for races locally and in other parts of the country —most recently completing a 10K and a half marathon during Disneyland’s Halloween Half Marathon Weekend. That blend of discipline and creativity carries through everything I do.

My journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but those moments have fueled my growth and helped me discover what truly matters: building meaningful connections, whether through my professional work, creative projects, or personal passions. I’m really grateful to live a life where I get to do a lot of what I love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth. For a long time, I felt unsure about which direction I was headed in my career. I worked in different industries and tackled a variety of roles, and I often found myself wondering if I was “falling behind” compared to others who seemed to have everything figured out.

It wasn’t until I shifted my mindset that I realized how much value those experiences brought me. Instead of focusing on what I didn’t know, I started embracing the skills and knowledge I was gaining in so many areas—from operations and process improvement to leadership and creativity. Each experience became a stepping stone, and I started seeing myself as someone who could adapt, problem-solve, and bring a unique perspective to any situation.

One thing that remained a constant goal throughout my journey was finding a career that offered a good work-life balance. I’ve always wanted to have the time and energy to pursue my passions—whether that’s creating content, traveling, or any of my other hobbies —while still excelling in my professional life. This focus has guided the decisions I’ve made and helped me prioritize roles and opportunities that align with what matters most to me.

This mindset shift not only gave me more confidence but also helped me appreciate the journey itself. It’s taught me that sometimes, the most rewarding paths aren’t linear—they’re the ones that help you grow in ways you didn’t expect.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work revolves around problem-solving, creating structure, and making things run smoothly. At CareHalo, I help lead initiatives that allow us to empower individuals to take charge of their health through education and support. I thrive on building systems and processes that simplify complex challenges.

What I’m most proud of is how I’ve turned my varied experiences into an asset. I’ve had opportunities to work across different industries, which has made me adaptable and resourceful. I specialize in taking on projects that don’t have a clear roadmap, figuring them out step by step, and delivering results that make a lasting impact. And I like to think I do it with a personable touch. I think my mix of creativity, structure, and focus on people-first solutions makes me unique.

Beyond my professional work, I’ve created “bornwithahalo” an online space where I embrace who I am and celebrate my kind girl aesthetic. It’s a platform that allows me to step outside of my comfort zone and try things I never imagined myself doing – rather that be due to my background, race, size, etc. It’s a creative outlet that not only reflects my personality but also reminds me to stay curious and open to growth in all areas of life.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My journey has been shaped by an incredible network of supporters who’ve encouraged and guided me every step of the way. It started as early as elementary school, where I found inspiration and empowerment through Girls Inc. Their programs and staff instilled confidence and taught me to dream big from a young age.

In high school, I was fortunate to have teachers who not only pushed me academically but were nurturing. They encouraged me to think critically, work hard, and pursue opportunities I didn’t think were possible at the time.

In college, I had the privilege of working with amazing professional mentors who helped me navigate my early career choices. Their advice and willingness to share their experiences gave me the tools I needed to make thoughtful decisions and embrace growth opportunities.

As I’ve progressed in my career, I’ve been blessed with supervisors who played pivotal roles in my development. They saw my strengths, challenged me to improve, and trusted me with responsibilities that helped me grow both professionally and personally. Their mentorship taught me not only technical skills but also the importance of leadership, adaptability, and empathy.

Lastly, my family and close friends have always been my biggest cheerleaders. They’ve supported me through every high and low, encouraging me to stay true to myself. I know that I could lose everything tomorrow, and I’d have a village right behind me.
