Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Sahay.
Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After completing my BA in Film & Media, I started my career in video editing, working for the youtube channel WatchMojo. I decided to go back to college to get a degree in animation where I spent three years honing in on my drawing skills. Once I had graduated I got a few great opportunites: one was storyboarding on the feature film, Space Cadet, and after that I worked as an animator on the Netflix series’ Worst Roommate Ever and Worst Ex Ever. Once my contract was up there, I did freelance animation for about a year, and once I had more clients than I could manage I started my own animation studio, Studio Punchline, where I hire artists for various projects spanning from animated series, music videos, documentaries, and novels.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Animation is quite a saturated market and also very competitive. Being between contracts can always bring feelings of doubt, anxiety, and a feeling that maybe this industry is not what it once was.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Animation, music videos, novels, and social media content.
