Today we’d like to introduce you to Klark Kent.
Hi Klark, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always wanted to be a videographer and photographer. As a child, I would look at many different magazines and published photos and videos and wonder how they did certain effects and edits and as I grew so did my love for the crafts; thinking back as a kid, my first camera was a Polaroid instant finish. When kids were getting games, I was trying to get more instant finish camera photo paper. In HighSchool, I was asked what did I want to be in life. I replied A Camera Man, so I can meet all the beautiful women In The World. Still not knowing how I was going to make this happen. I really didn’t receive my first professional camera til Oct 2013 from a local pawnshop. My late Brother Garry Mells purchased for me as an early Christmas gift. I really didn’t know how to use it. So I shot on Portrait automatic mode for like 6 mos I believe. So I would go online and research photography and filming and then try to do the same things the videos would do.
The summer of 2014, I finally got the chance to do some PhotoShoots with a few local models in Savannah, Georgia, then I start shooting Club photography and shooting promo clips for local event. Through the years, I met two women that change my life and made me strive for excellence Kimberly “WonderWoman0912” Gregory and Porché Madre. These two women have really helped me open up doors that I never thought I could. Getting to work with Webbie & Boosie, Asian doll, Kamillion, Raz B, Gary “Lil G” Jenkins, Soul 4 Real, etc.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Hmm… I have gotten many bumps, bruises and scrapes down this well-traveled road. As an artist your suppose to be able to create the skies limits with the right creative juices and space. At one point, that was taken from me. Monday, April 13, 2015. My two brothers and a great friend was murdered. I took that very hard and literally at that point, photography; videography was not of any interest to me. Because again my brother Garry brought me my first professional camera, and when he was taken from me, I really thought I had no creative juice to push on.
So I took a long three year vacation. But ultimately, when I came back, I felt like it was time, it was time to live my dreams today because tomorrow never comes. But some of the struggles I have encountered in this business have been in the begin when I first started shooting. I tried to intern with a few major photographers back home and all I got was the run around or Just A straight up No from these photographers. Which I can respect and at that time, collaborating with different photographers and models. But shout out to throughout mind photography and 316 media and dean chambers these three gentlemen taught me game. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
