Today we’d like to introduce you to LaJazz Pichon.
Hi LaJazz, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up in a single-parent household in Houston wasn’t always easy, but it taught me resilience early on. My mom did everything she could to make ends meet, and I stayed busy, whether it was sports, theater, dance, or leadership programs, I was always involved. I even attended a career-focused high school, where I earned several accreditations that helped me hit the ground running.
After putting myself through college, I landed a role as an operations manager at one of the biggest companies in the world. I was helping them save millions of dollars weekly, but deep down, I was exhausted, unfulfilled, and grieving multiple personal losses. One life-changing conversation with my Nana, (may she rest in peace) shifted everything. I told her I wanted to move to Atlanta and finally pursue my true passions: acting, music, and overall storytelling.
Since then, I’ve immersed myself in the entertainment world. I freestyle weekly, write music, and am developing my own sound. I’ve been performing in film and cinema for over a year now, after a lifetime in theater. I’m currently interning at an acting school in Atlanta, and I just returned from a talent convention in Los Angeles, where I received four callbacks from agents.
This journey hasn’t been easy! last year alone felt like the best and worst year of my life. I gained amazing opportunities but also faced some of my biggest challenges I’ve ever had. Still, I kept pushing, and I’m proud to be here, growing and living out my story.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. A lot of my struggles have been the kind that many people face. Betrayal, loss, financial hardship, but they’ve felt especially heavy on this journey. I’ve had people in my life try to use me or tear me down simply because I’m walking in my purpose. Some friendships ended in painful betrayal, and I’ve also experienced deep personal loss. The two people who helped raise me both transitioned during this chapter of my life, and that grief is something I still carry.
Financially, it’s been a major shift too. I went from nearly making six figures to now working in an industry where you have to hustle every single day just to make it. But even with all of that, I believe I’m building something far greater than just a career, I’m walking in alignment with what I was called to do.
There have been setbacks, absolutely, but every time I’ve faced one, I’ve taken a moment to pause, pivot, and realign with my purpose. Through faith, focus, and perseverance, I’ve kept moving forward.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I like to describe myself as a working creative, someone who doesn’t limit themselves. While I’m most known for acting and music, my work spans across many areas of the entertainment industry. I’m also a director and producer, having executive produced and directed two upcoming projects set to release this year. Beyond that, I’ve developed strong skills in hair, makeup, wardrobe, and styling, anything that contributes to bringing a creative vision to life.
In this industry, versatility is everything, and I pride myself on being multitalented and willing to learn. Whether I’m acting on screen, writing music, working behind the scenes on set, or helping out as a second AD, I bring passion and dedication to every role I step into. I currently intern at an acting school in Atlanta, which gives me the opportunity to pour back into the community and continue learning from all sides of the craft.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to tell stories! whether it’s through performance, visuals, or helping others bring their stories to life. I’m also stepping back into event planning, which I used to do in college where I hosted major university events. That creative planning side of me is being reignited now, and I’m working on something new that I’m really excited about.
What sets me apart is my willingness to wear multiple hats, stay open to growth, and always lead with intention. I’m not in this just for the spotlight, I’m in it to create meaningful work that resonates and inspires.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I plan to keep growing in my career as an artist and creative. I’m actively seeking the right agents and management team to help elevate my brand and create more opportunities in acting, music, and production. Building a sustainable and authentic platform is a big part of my focus right now, something that not only reflects my talent, but also my purpose.
I’m also pouring into my nonprofit organization, which focuses on suicide and depression awareness, especially in communities of color, youth, and veterans. Mental health is something deeply personal to me, and I’m committed to using my voice and platform to break stigmas, raise awareness, and provide real resources.
Ultimately, I expect to reach EGOT status. I believe in dreaming big because I serve a big God. I know God has incredible plans for me, and my only goal is to stay aligned with that vision. one step, one project, one purpose at a time.
