Hi Lakeshia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My entry into the culinary world wasn’t planned; it was a matter of necessity and destiny.
After undergoing a hysterectomy in March, I realized the long, demanding hours of television hair and makeup were no longer sustainable for me. While recovering, I needed to figure out how to make money and maintain my career without sacrificing my health.
It was during that downtime that I saw a path forward. I felt a strong, undeniable pull toward food, which reinforced a prophecy given to me by my Aunt: that I was meant to pick up the torch from my Grandmother Lilly and start a business in the culinary space.
I didn’t want to just do ‘food,’ though. I wanted something innovative and fun. So, one day while scrolling on TikTok, I decided to focus on lemonade. It allowed me to get creative with flavors and techniques. It started as a simple idea, but that single focus quickly grew into a passion for flavor innovation—and that’s how I arrived here, ready to bring that spark to Lilly’s Flavor Fusion.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I would never describe it as hard. I see it as a period of intense, necessary growth.
I invested all of my personal savings to launch Lilly’s. Creating this company has stretched me and tested my resourcefulness in ways I could have never imagined during my time in television.
But, ultimately, I have to say it’s been a profound blessing. It’s forced me to level up, and I genuinely believe it has made me a much smarter and better person—and a better business partner.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in creating and crafting boutique, fresh lemonades that go beyond the expected, resulting in over 32 unique and custom flavor profiles. I’m known for taking an ordinary beverage and elevating it into a premium, handcrafted experience.
When it comes to my business, I’m most proud of the flavors we’ve created. But on a personal level, I am most proud of my perseverance. I took a massive risk, dedicating my personal resources to this venture during a challenging period, and I am proud of the fact that I never gave up on bringing Lilly’s to life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think luck has anything to do with it. God is the anchor of my life, and none of this would be possible without him in my life.
