Life & Work with Mehtab Nasir Loladia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mehtab Nasir Loladia.

Hello Mehtab, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a self-taught cake artist, a wife and a mother of 2 beautiful girls. It all started with me wanting a perfect cake for my younger daughter’s first birthday. I couldn’t find what I was looking for then, so I decided to do it myself. With no baking background or experience, it took me a fortnight to learn, design and execute all the elements of her Princess Castle Cake! During the process, I realized how much I enjoyed it! It became a yearly tradition to make special/challenging-themed cakes for my family and friends. It wasn’t until my daughter’s 6th birthday Unicorn cake (I remember how much it was loved by everyone) I finally decided to do this as a profession.

Creativity has always been a part of me in the form of sketching, painting, Henna art, dance and music. So as a Cake Artist now, Cake is my Canvas and I love decorating it with different mediums.

Once I started it as a profession, there was no looking back. I started advertising my business “Mits Creamy Creations” through social media but word of mouth was by far the most effective form of advertising. With all the feedback and great reviews on flavors as well as details in designs, my business is booming!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, starting something from scratch is always challenging. Specially when you have no training as such. It took years of research, dedication and perseverance to master the skills I have today… I have the drive to provide nothing but the best in terms of design as well as flavors. I like to incorporate Indian flavors and have fusion products. It takes a lot of trial and error to come up with a flavor palette that pleases everyone. A lot of work goes into a well-designed cake from buying the ingredients, baking, frosting, decorating to of course don’t forget the dishes and clean up. Home-based businesses don’t mass produce so the cost of ingredients vary as well… we don’t get to spend as much time with our family and sometimes stay up all night as we choose to make these gorgeous masterpieces for your special occasions.

All this hard work pays off when I see the appreciation and joy on the faces of my clients and their little ones! And that motivates me to do what I do, giving my very best !!

It is always nice to have your work, time and effort appreciated and I couldn’t have been more thankful to my amazing clients many of whom are now friends for their extraordinary love and support they have showered me with.

My Husband, Parents, family and friends play a very crucial role in me overcoming any obstacles along my journey and I couldn’t have done it without them… I am the face of the business but the work they put behind the scene is remarkable.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
