Life & Work with Sami Collins of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sami Collins.

Hi Sami, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m an Atlanta native, born and raised here, and I spent most of my life growing up in Buckhead before marriage and motherhood. In 2020, my husband and I moved to Tucker and quickly fell in love with the warm, welcoming community. We knew it was where we wanted to put down roots and start our family. Today, we’re raising our two little ones here—our daughter, who’s 3½, and our son, who’s 18 months old—and it’s become a place that truly feels like home.

Like so many moms, my journey into content creation began after becoming a parent. I found myself constantly searching for family-friendly places to explore, local events, and fun ways to create memories with our kids. At the same time, I realized how easy it is for moms to feel isolated, especially in those early years, and I wanted to create something that helped families feel more connected.

That’s how The Tuckered Mama was born. The name is a little play on words—it represents both our hometown of Tucker and the reality that, let’s be honest, moms are usually pretty tuckered out! What started as sharing our own family adventures around Northeast Atlanta quickly grew into a resource for other parents looking for playgrounds, local businesses, events, and hidden gems.

As the community grew, so did my passion for storytelling. I launched The Tuckered Mama Podcast to create a space for honest conversations about motherhood—the beautiful moments, the messy ones, and everything in between. I also love highlighting local businesses and fellow moms because I truly believe strong communities are built when we support one another.

Today, The Tuckered Mama is more than a social media page—it’s a community where families can discover new places, make meaningful memories, and feel connected to where they live. My hope is that every post, podcast episode, or local recommendation helps another mom feel a little less alone and a little more excited to get out and experience all the amazing things our community has to offer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most moms trying to build something while raising a family.

When I started The Tuckered Mama, I had a vision of creating a community where families could discover local adventures and moms could feel supported. What I didn’t realize was how much work goes into consistently creating content while also being fully present for my children. Some days I’m filming a playground review with a toddler who just wants snacks and an 18-month-old ready for a nap, and other days I’m editing content late at night after everyone is asleep. It’s a balancing act that many parents can relate to.

There have also been moments of self-doubt. Putting yourself out there on social media can feel vulnerable, and it’s easy to compare your journey to someone else’s. I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always happen overnight, and sometimes the most meaningful impact can’t be measured by numbers. It’s measured by the messages from moms who tell me they discovered a new favorite park because of a post, found a local business they now love, or simply felt encouraged by something I shared.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that community is built one connection at a time. Every conversation, every local recommendation, every podcast episode, and every family I get to meet reminds me why I started this in the first place. Those relationships have made every challenge worth it and continue to inspire me to keep showing up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At the heart of everything I do is building community for moms and families. Through The Tuckered Mama, I create content that helps parents discover local playgrounds, family-friendly restaurants, seasonal events, and hidden gems throughout Northeast Atlanta. My goal is to make it easier for families to get out, explore their community, and create meaningful memories together.

I also host The Tuckered Mama Podcast, where I have honest conversations about motherhood, interview inspiring local moms and business owners, and share stories that remind moms they’re not alone. One of my favorite parts of what I do is partnering with local businesses and helping connect them with families in an authentic way. I love seeing small businesses thrive while introducing my audience to places they’ll genuinely enjoy.

One thing I’ve become especially known for is hosting monthly mom social gatherings. They started as a simple way to help moms meet new friends, but they’ve grown into something I look forward to every month. There’s something really special about watching complete strangers arrive feeling nervous and leave with new friendships and a support system. Those moments remind me why community matters so much.

I’m especially excited because I’m currently planning my biggest event yet for Fall 2026—The Tuckered Mama Social. It will be an evening created just for moms, featuring local vendors, live music, and, best of all, a kid-free atmosphere where moms can truly relax, connect, and enjoy time together. It’s something I’ve dreamed about for a long time, and I can’t wait to bring it to life. If you’re reading this, be sure to follow along—I have so much more to share as it comes together!

What I’m most proud of isn’t a follower count or a viral post. It’s hearing from moms who tell me they made a new friend at one of my events, discovered their family’s new favorite local spot, or finally felt connected after moving to the area. Those stories mean everything to me.

If you asked my friends to describe me, they’d probably say I’m the planner and the “hostess with the mostest.” I genuinely love bringing people together. Whether it’s organizing a moms’ night out, planning a community event, or simply sharing a great local recommendation, I find so much joy in creating spaces where people feel welcomed, included, and connected. I think that’s what sets The Tuckered Mama apart. It’s never just been about content—it’s about creating a community where moms know they belong.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is simply spending time outdoors with my family. Growing up in Atlanta, some of my happiest days were exploring local parks, visiting seasonal festivals, and making simple memories together. Looking back, it wasn’t about doing anything extravagant—it was the quality time that made those moments so special.

As a child, I never realized how much those experiences were shaping me. Now, as a mom, I find myself wanting to recreate that same feeling for my own children. Some of our favorite days are the simplest ones—packing snacks, heading to a local playground, discovering a new trail, or finding a community event we can enjoy together.

I think that’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about what I do. Every time I share a family-friendly spot or a local event, I hope I’m helping another family create the kind of memories their children will look back on years from now. Those little moments often become the ones that matter most.
