Life & Work with Tany B

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tany B.

Hi Tany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello, I’m Tany, I’m from Inglewood, California, moved to Saint Louis, Missouri for college I have always had a passion for how things worked, from the human body to phone’s/technology this lead to going to school for Funeral Service/Embalming I graduated in 2013 and later in 2017 I decided to change my focus I went back to school in 2017 and graduated in 2020 with my second degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing.

I’m a Proactive media and communications professional with three years of internal and ten years of external communications, social media marketing, Analyzing and implementation of marketing communications programs for projects in the areas of advertising, promotional programs, public relations, trade shows, and internet Board communications. I am still passionate about funeral service and looking forward to owning my own practice in the future, in addition to my experience and personal qualities, I have a solid educational foundation and a passion for anything I do. I am extremely enthusiastic about any work that I do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far I have no complaints, the only big struggle has been time and dedication it takes to go to school full time and work full time. In 2013 when I was in school for Funeral Service, I worked four jobs and maintained school. In 2020 on my verge of finishing school with my Second degree, I was pregnant with my first child, it was a pandemic and I worked full time managing six employees. I have always been able to hold my weight I think it’s the hustle in me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m currently a Marketing Communications Manager for a large television/Media company. I love to coach, lead and develop teams. I have excelled in my chosen career due to an intense desire to succeed, coupled with an outgoing and open-minded nature. I currently do script writing and live presentations, as well as manage multiple social media pages. I am most proud of my drive to be successful, along with helping develop people along the way. What sets my apart from others is I am a trustworthy individual and I stay on top of self-development. I am certified in Scrum and Six Sigma.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I mentor two people a month my goals have always been to develop people and teach them about how to use resources, keeping integrity along the way. I am all for networking and learning from others, it’s always a great idea to get to know people, be the face that speaks to everyone in the room no matter who they are. Treat everyone equally. One big thing that has worked for me and acting with integrity and always including anyone as I can. You never know the person under you could one day be your boss.
