Lindsay Giedl of Athens, Georgia on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Lindsay Giedl and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Lindsay, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, I have been on a small tour with the Joffrey Ballet School where I have been on for 10 weeks working as the Administrative Director and Faculty for Joffrey South, Joffrey Colorado, and Joffrey Akron. We are in our last leg and my day is pretty straight forward! I wake up and make some coffee and then I go to yoga. After that I eat some breakfast and then head to work with my colleagues. I then work on my computer doing administration and emails as well as help small issues within the program. I teach the last two classes of the day and then I go home and hang out with my friends. Although I am exhausted from travelling it is so fun and rewarding!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lindsay Giedl and I am a dance educator, performer and choreographer out of Athens, Georgia. I am an Adjunct Faculty at The University of Georgia Dance Department as well as choreograph in the theatre and opera department. Currently I reside as the Dance Director at The Studio Athens an art and dance space. I have been working with the Joffrey Ballet School as an Administrative Director and Faculty for ten years and I am now entering my fifth year with Ignite Dance Competition & Convention! In my free time I love teaching yoga at Feel Free Yoga & Wellness as well as creating art pieces, painting, and making jewelry.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the most about work. At an early age I always observed my parents working – hustling in their jobs and professions.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I think I would say – you are good enough! You will make a career in the dance industry.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would hope they say authenticity and love! I try to live every day as the truest version of myself and give everyone the benefit of the doubt always.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
Oh – this is a good question. Hopefully my ability to meet people exactly where they are and see the good in all.
