We’re looking forward to introducing you to L’Sonne. Check out our conversation below.
L’Sonne, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Being with the Creator—and creating.
Whether I’m in prayer, reading my Bible, or serving at church, time stops. The peace I find in God’s presence is priceless. Some days I’ll sit with Scripture for ten minutes, other days for hours. I carry my Bible everywhere now—it’s my compass and conversation starter.
That same timelessness happens when I make music. I might start by listening to instrumentals or mixing a track I shelved weeks ago, and suddenly, hours pass. That’s when I know I’m creating.
I’ve tried to “find myself” outside of Christ before—but those moments led me right back to Him. Now, I see my gifts differently. My creativity is a calling, not just a craft. Everything I write is rooted in the truth I’ve lived through.
Who I am now is a bridge between the altar and the afterparty—grace and grit, Scripture and soul. When I started giving Jesus my time and my talent, I finally understood who I was and what I was called to do.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Branding tends to be fixed and tied to a specific product, but as a human being constantly being reshaped—with my identity rooted in Jesus—I’m more concerned with my current purpose, the message I’m here to share, and how to represent that well over time. That vision is so far out of the box that it often transcends the idea we have about “branding.”
Music has always been my way of telling the truth, motivating people, and connecting on a real level. I came up in the SoundCloud era, and to me, it’s the modern-day DatPiff, MyMixtapez, or Spinrilla. Some of my records will only live there because that’s where the feedback is real, the community is alive, and the creativity has no ceiling. On SoundCloud, I get full control—updating titles, previewing unreleased songs, mastering with Dolby Atmos, and connecting directly with listeners. You can tell a lot about a person by the music they listen to, and SoundCloud makes it easy to see and share those connections.
I’m intentional with my releases. Some songs I made in 2021 are only now coming out, because timing matters as much as the message. Between July and December 2025, I’m dropping my debut album Heart On Earth and releasing over 40 songs—hip hop at its core, but filled with storytelling, spirituality, and bars that stick with you long after the beat fades.
To my core, I love lyrics—punchlines, metaphors, and wordplay that make you rewind the track. My music isn’t just entertainment—it’s lived experience. I’m the bridge between the altar and the afterparty, making songs that are as real as the life that made them. My story is filled with lessons about identity, mental health, faith, resilience, education, connection, money, skills, time, family, patience, and love—and every record is a new way to share those lessons.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Jesus for real.
It’s interesting because the mind craves clarity.
But I learned real clarity doesn’t come from the mirror—it’s found in relationship with the One who wrote our story before we lived it. Jesus saw me long before I knew who I was. He sees every hidden part, every overlooked strength, and still calls us—continuously—with purpose.
We think we know God. We think we know ourselves. I had curated a life around what I thought I knew—my experiences, my beliefs, what I was taught. When I actually pursued a relationship with Jesus, it stopped being about how clearly *I* could see myself. It became about how clearly *He* sees every one of us.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to respond when reality looks nothing like what I expected.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The fulfillment of the Great Commission. Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations,” and that’s a lifetime call I’ve accepted. For me, it’s not just about preaching—it’s about living in a way that reflects His love, truth, and grace in every space I enter. Whether I’m on stage performing, writing music, or having one-on-one conversations, I see it as planting seeds that point people back to Him. No matter how long it takes, I’m committed to seeing people know Christ, not just hear about Him.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply is the power of our vision as a collective when we gather with intention. At some point, we’ll stop trying to build the world and finally live in the one we’ve built. That begins when we slow down, check the clock less, and stay present.
I see a world where we remain together long enough for the plans and conversations that spark real change to take root and bear good fruit. Time isn’t speeding up—we’re just rushing through it. A breakthrough happens when we stay in the room beyond a moment, beyond a workday. When we stop limiting our capacity for community, something profound takes place.
When you drive, you miss what the walker notices. The first to leave misses the stillness that only the last to stay can feel. Phones keep us reachable but apart. One day, I believe we’ll use them only to bring us together for extended moments. I’d take a handwritten letter over a text any day, because the pause between sending and receiving leaves room for meaning.
