Meet Ali Momin of WashLuxe Laundry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Momin.

Hi Ali, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Ali Momin, and I am a recent college graduate who grew up with a passion for business. I was blessed enough to have a father who was a business owner, and he has been my role model since I was a kid. As a 2nd year at Georgia State University, I kept thinking about my plans after college. I knew I could have a good career in project management or something in business administration, but that career path did not fully resonate with me. I was itching to become a business owner and solve a problem. That’s when I came up with the idea of WashLuXe Laundry. WashLuXe Laundry was created to be different than your average laundromat. The idea was a one-stop shop where you actually enjoyed doing your laundry or having it done there.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey of WashLuXe Laundry has been an adventurous road, but definitely not a smooth one. The first large issue I faced was getting my parents on board. This took years of convincing my parents and proving that I was responsible enough to ensure we could handle such a project, let alone that it was a good idea. It started by helping with small projects years before. After much effort and convincing, I found a perfect spot for my first location: an old & condemned, moldy building that was previously occupied by the city’s police force. This building sat vacant for many years after the police left, and there were many obstacles to transforming it into what it is today. As a young entrepreneur, I faced many unexpected hurdles, but I am blessed to have learned and gotten through them all.

We’ve been impressed with WashLuxe Laundry, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I build and operate laundromats from the ground up. However, I don’t build your average laundromat. See, many families and mothers do laundry at the laundromat, but they face many common issues. In a shared space where people wash their clothes, consumers lack space, cleanliness, convenience, and inclusivity. My goal in developing WashLuXe was to create a modern laundromat brand with a modern ambiance that provides families with a comfortable space to do laundry. We have ample amenities, great customer service, large stores, a place for kids to play, and much more. What separates WashLuXe from other brands is a laundry list of items (no pun intended), but some major points are our store designs and finishes. We use bright colors, modern touches, and quartz countertops for customer barstool tables. I am mostly proud of how far the brand has come in a short period of time, but also grateful that we make many customers happy through positive feedback, this is one of our main focuses. Washluxe is a one-stop shop offering Self-Service, Wash & Fold, and Pickup & Delivery at all locations. You can drop your clothes off and have them washed, dried, & folded, or you can have us come pick them up, process them and deliver them right back to your doorstep! As a family-owned and backed brand, we have been blessed to be working on our third location opening within the next 1-2 months.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Looking back, my favorite memory is starting an e-commerce store at the age of 14. The store was named World Apollo, and I created it to sell trendy products to end consumers. I developed a website and did minimal advertising, but I didn’t stick with it long enough to realize the full potential of e-commerce, which requires much more time and marketing. Looking back on it gets you thinking because E-Commerce is so popular now it’s become saturated, if I stuck with it I probably would’ve been rich.
