Hi Amaiya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello, I am Amaiya I am 22 years old and I started my journey in the hair industry when I was 14 years old, but I’ve been doing my own hair since I was in 8th grade so I’ll say since I’ve been 13, I took my first client at the age of 14 and ever since then I have never stopped. I always knew I was going to do big things so that kept me going throughout the years!

I have my own business and sell my own %100 natural ingredients hair oil. I have also had the pleasure of doing a famous person’s hair,and also about to start my own corporation. Hair is my passion I played sports my entire high school years and as a kid but always did hair on the side, everyone expected me to go to college for basketball but I knew my passion and I knew the hair industry was what I wanted to do. So I graduated and took hair seriously and ever since then I have been inspiring others and doing big things!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been really smooth, but as every entrepreneur knows. Things can get slow sometimes but you never give up! Because what’s meant for you will happen with hard work dedication, and a positive mindset!

As you know, we’re big fans of Forever Slay by Maiya J. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am 22 years old I have been in the hair industry since I was 14, 14 is when I took my first client but I knew I had a passion for hair in the 8th grade! I’ve always been a sports player but my love for hair overpowered that. I knew god didn’t give me the gift for no reason so I took it and ran with it and never looked back.

I am a go-getter and my personality speaks for itself my clients and customers love me because I do great service and I can knowledge them on what I am doing and we always have a great vibe and conversation. I also have created my own %100 all-natural hair growth oil. That has helped change women’s and kids’ hair growth journey! I’m trying to be the best at what I do and every day I go hard so I can be! I also just released my aftercare kits that help clients and customers maintain their hair after.

I admire myself because of my hard work and dedication and the years tears and sweat I’ve put into being the best I can be in the beauty industry at such a young age. I would love to inspire more women to never give up on their passion and always keep their faith no matter what! No matter if the business is going good bad or slow never stop promoting thriving and going hard for what you want! It will always turn out in your favor!

What makes me different from others I believe is my confidence my thrive and my hunger for trying to do big things to change others ’ lives and inspire anyone who’s scared to start that business to just start it and never look back. I want readers to know that you can do whatever you put your mind to you just have to believe in yourself and go hard for yourself and the rest will come.

I also would love to expand my clientele and help others start their hair growth journey with my amazing hair growth oil. I make it label it and ship it by myself, and it will soon be a billion-dollar business. I am proud of myself for never giving up when times got bad and business got slow, I still got up and never gave up I wouldn’t be where I am today if I did.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mom is my best friend and my most loyal client. She is the most inspiring and motivating person in my life. She has always supported my business by, buying supplies. Not going to no other stylist but me, never letting me give up always pushing me to keep going. She’s always in my corner cheering for me the loudest.

She also is a very amazing crafter. She makes my custom scrubs, labels for my bottles and boxes, my flyers, etc. Without my mom, I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am today. She is the best supporter/client rooting for me and wholeheartedly rooting for me to be one of the best stylists in the beauty industry.
