Meet Amy Staniszewski of The Gilded Anchor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Staniszewski.

Hi Amy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started The Gilded Anchor in late 2025, but my love for antiques and collected pieces began long before that. I’ve always been drawn to the history behind vintage objects, the craftsmanship, the character, and the idea that these pieces have already lived full lives before finding their way into someone else’s home. In a world where so much feels disposable, I was deeply attracted to things that were made with intention and built to last.
In 2023, I was diagnosed with cancer, and that experience changed the pace and focus of my life significantly. It forced me to reevaluate how I wanted to spend my time and what kind of life I wanted to build moving forward. I realized I wanted more freedom, more creativity, and more purpose in my work. Becoming my own boss and building something centered around what I genuinely love became a priority.
That was the beginning of The Gilded Anchor.
What started as a passion for sourcing beautiful vintage and antique pieces quickly evolved into a growing business and creative brand. Today, The Gilded Anchor focuses on curated antiques, collected interiors, and heritage pieces sold through live online shows, social media, and direct client relationships. I love helping people find unique objects that bring warmth, history, and personality into their homes.
One of the most exciting parts of building this business has been blending traditional antiques with modern platforms like live selling and social media. It has allowed me to connect with collectors and customers all over the country while building a strong community around a shared appreciation for craftsmanship and timeless design.
As the business continues to grow, I’m also expanding into collection and antique consulting services, helping clients thoughtfully sell, downsize, or transition curated collections in a more personal and specialized way. I also hope to open a booth in an antique store later in the year.
At its heart, The Gilded Anchor is about storytelling, preservation, and creating spaces filled with pieces that feel meaningful rather than temporary.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been mostly smooth, but there have definitely been challenges along the way. Thankfully, many of those challenges have become valuable learning experiences. One of the things I appreciate most about owning a business is the ability to adapt quickly. If something is not working, you have the freedom to refine it, improve it, or approach it differently rather than staying stuck in a system that no longer serves you.
Shortly after launching The Gilded Anchor, I was unexpectedly hospitalized, which temporarily slowed the momentum of the business during its earliest stages. At the time, it felt discouraging because I was so excited about what I was building. Looking back, though, it reinforced how important this business truly was to me and how determined I was to continue growing it.
I think the biggest ongoing challenge is learning how to balance a rapidly growing business with everyday life. When you genuinely love what you do, it becomes very easy to pour all of your energy into it. There is always another show to prepare for, another sourcing trip, another opportunity to pursue, or another creative idea to develop.
At the same time, I have learned that sustainable growth is just as important as fast growth. Building a business requires creativity and ambition, but it also requires learning how to pace yourself, stay adaptable, and continue evolving without losing sight of why you started in the first place.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Gilded Anchor ?
The Gilded Anchor is a curated antique and vintage brand centered around timeless interiors, craftsmanship, and storytelling through collected pieces. I specialize in sourcing and selling curated antiques, vintage decor, and collected interiors.

Through live online sales, social media, private sourcing, and collection consulting, I help clients and collectors find unique pieces that bring character, beauty, and history into their homes. My work includes everything from curated antique sales and personalized sourcing to helping clients thoughtfully downsize, sell, or transition collections in a more personal and specialized way.

What sets The Gilded Anchor apart is that it blends the old world feel of traditional antique collecting with modern platforms and community driven selling. Through live online shows, social media, and direct client relationships, I’ve been able to create a more approachable and interactive experience around antiques while still maintaining a highly curated aesthetic.

I think many people assume antiques have to feel formal or inaccessible, but I love showing clients and customers how vintage and antique pieces can bring warmth, individuality, and character into modern homes. One of my favorite parts of the business is helping people discover unexpected ways to use antique pieces in everyday life so they become functional, lived with, and personally meaningful rather than simply decorative. I believe antiques should not only be admired, but enjoyed daily in a way that brings beauty into ordinary moments.

As the business grows, I’m continuing to expand the consulting side of The Gilded Anchor, working with clients who are redecorating, downsizing, inheriting collections, or looking for a more curated and private approach to selling antiques and heirloom pieces. I offer an alternative to the traditional estate sale model by creating a more personalized experience that focuses on thoughtfully placing special pieces with collectors and buyers who will truly appreciate them. Many clients are drawn to the idea of avoiding the stress of opening their homes to large public sales or having meaningful pieces treated like ordinary household items. I believe the process of transitioning collections can be handled in a way that feels more respectful, intentional, and personal for both the client and the history behind the pieces.

Brand wise, I’m most proud of the community that has formed around The Gilded Anchor. Many of my customers are not just buyers, but people who genuinely share a love for collecting, decorating, and preserving beautiful things. That sense of connection and shared appreciation has been incredibly rewarding to build.

At its core, The Gilded Anchor is about creating spaces filled with meaningful pieces that tell a story and helping people rediscover the beauty of objects made with craftsmanship, artistry, and intention.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is to stay flexible. Not every idea, strategy, or opportunity will work the way you expect it to, and that’s okay. Allow yourself the freedom to refine things, pivot when necessary, and let go of what is not serving you or your business anymore. At the same time, stay open to thoughtful advice, new opportunities, and ideas you may not have originally considered.

I also believe deeply in approaching business with integrity and kindness. In any industry, your reputation matters, and if you do not have integrity, you really do not have much of anything. People remember how you make them feel, how you conduct yourself, and whether they can trust you.

Another important lesson is learning how to receive criticism and advice without viewing it as rejection. Some of the most valuable growth comes from listening, learning, and honestly evaluating feedback. Not every opinion needs to shape your direction, but being willing to reflect on constructive advice can help you grow both personally and professionally.

Most importantly, I would tell anyone starting out not to wait until everything feels perfect before beginning. Growth often happens while you are building, learning, and adapting along the way.
