Meet Anthony Lemons of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Lemons.

Hi Anthony, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Xavier Anthony in 2014 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Before XA, I had experimented with a few different brands, but Xavier Anthony was the first one that truly reflected the vision I wanted to build. The first product I released under the brand was a graphic T-shirt called the “Bones” shirt.

My interest in fashion started long before that. As a kid, I was constantly watching music videos and became fascinated by the way artists expressed themselves through clothing. Their outfits weren’t just something they wore – they became part of who they were. Every piece felt intentional and told a story. I remember looking around at everyday life and wondering why I didn’t see that same level of creativity in the people around me. That curiosity led me to start drawing people in outfits I designed myself. I became obsessed with customizing clothing and imagining new ways people could express themselves. Looking back, that was the moment I realized fashion could be more than clothing-it could shape how people feel, how they’re perceived, and how they express their identity.

From an early age, I knew I wanted to create. I wasn’t interested in copying what already existed; I was always asking myself, “What if it looked different?” That mindset has stayed with me throughout my life and eventually became the foundation of Xavier Anthony.

Over the years, the brand has evolved into much more than clothing. It’s become a creative platform where fashion, art, music, and storytelling all come together. Every collection, campaign, photoshoot, event, and collaboration is another opportunity to communicate an idea and continue building the world of Xavier Anthony. Along the way, I’ve learned nearly every side of the business-from design and product development to manufacturing, creative direction, marketing, and building a team. Every experience has taught me something that has helped shape the brand into what it is today.

People often ask what my biggest accomplishment has been, but I honestly don’t spend much time thinking that way. I’m grateful for every milestone, but I don’t like to live in the past. I compare it to sweeping sand off a beach – you clear one area, and there’s always more in front of you. That’s what keeps me motivated. Every goal I reach simply reveals the next one. I stay focused on the work, because I believe the work will always speak louder than the milestones.

Today, Xavier Anthony represents more than clothing. It’s a reflection of how I see the world and my belief in possessing true clarity – seeing beyond trends, beyond limitations, and beyond the world’s grief to create something meaningful. I want people to feel like they’re wearing something with intention, not just another garment. We’re still building, and in many ways I feel like we’re just getting started. After more than a decade of working on this brand, I still wake up with the same excitement I had in 2014, and that tells me I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been obstacles along the way, just like there are with any business, but I’ve never viewed them as reasons to slow down. Challenges are part of building anything meaningful. I’ve learned to embrace the process, solve problems as they come, and keep moving forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the founder and creative director of Xavier Anthony. While most people know me through fashion, I’ve never viewed myself as just a fashion designer. I’ve always considered myself a creator first. Fashion simply became the first medium I chose to express that creativity.

People are often surprised when I say that I’m not a fashion person in the traditional sense. I’m not consumed by collecting clothes or dressing for the sake of fashion. Most days, I’m wearing Xavier Anthony because I’m more interested in creating than consuming. What excites me isn’t just designing a garment – it’s bringing an idea to life.

At Xavier Anthony, I oversee every part of that process. From concept development and product design to branding, creative direction, campaigns, casting, photography, and the overall experience surrounding each collection, I enjoy building something that feels complete. To me, every detail should have a purpose and contribute to a larger story.

What I specialize in is taking something that exists only in my imagination and making it tangible. Whether that’s a garment, a campaign, an event, or another creative project, I approach everything with the same mindset. I’m always asking myself, “How can I bring this vision into the real world?”

What I’m most proud of isn’t one specific product or achievement. It’s the fact that I’ve stayed committed to the vision since 2014. After more than a decade, I still wake up excited to create. I’ve learned that building something meaningful isn’t about chasing one big moment – it’s about showing up every day, refining your craft, and continuing to move the vision forward.

I think what sets me apart is that I don’t see clothing as the destination. Clothing is the vehicle. The vision has always been much bigger than fashion. My goal has never been to simply make garments – it has been to build a creative world that people can connect with through design, storytelling, music, experiences, and culture.

Everything I create is rooted in the same philosophy that Xavier Anthony was built on: possessing true clarity. It’s about seeing possibilities where others see limitations and having the discipline to turn those ideas into something real. Whether I was designing clothing, directing films, creating spaces, or building another type of business, that philosophy wouldn’t change. Creation is who I am. Fashion is simply the language I speak today.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open to connecting with people who genuinely love to create. Whether you’re a retailer interested in carrying Xavier Anthony, a photographer, filmmaker, stylist, model, musician, artist, architect, or another creative, I’m always interested in meeting people with unique ideas and perspectives.

I don’t look at collaborations as transactions. I see them as opportunities to build something that neither of us could have created alone. Some of the best ideas come from people bringing different experiences, talents, and ways of thinking to the table.

I don’t care where someone comes from or how big their platform is. If you’re passionate, committed to your craft, bring value, and genuinely want to create something meaningful, that’s enough for me to start a conversation. I believe great ideas can come from anywhere.

If you want to support Xavier Anthony, the biggest thing you can do is simply believe in the vision. Follow the journey, engage with what we’re building, share it with people who connect with it, and if something resonates with you, wear it. Every person who chooses to support the brand becomes part of its story, and I never take that for granted.

As the brand continues to grow, so will the opportunities to collaborate through creative projects, campaigns, events, retail partnerships, and new ventures. My goal has never been to build something alone. I’ve always wanted Xavier Anthony to become a platform where creative people can come together, challenge one another, elevate each other’s work, and create something that has a lasting impact.

At the end of the day, I believe the best collaborations happen when people are connected by a shared vision rather than personal gain. If our values align, we respect each other’s craft, and we believe we can build something meaningful together, my door is always open.
