Meet Ashleigh Summers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Summers.

Hi Ashleigh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was joking around with my friend Jabari Smith Jr. on making TikToks, and my first ever video got 67K views. While that’s not necessarily viral, coming from no one who had no following on their first video, it meant a lot. After that my TikTok and Instagram continued to grow, gaining over 200K followers between the two platforms within 2-3 months. I primarily focus on my Instagram now, which had 197K followers, as it is what started my business. I promote people, do paid photoshoots and music videos, and network and am planning to start selling Lashes and Lip Gloss soon to further branch out.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some struggles have been learning the flow of Instagram, how sometimes something works and sometimes it doesn’t or accepting it does require your full attention if you do want to make it big. I remember I left Instagram when my phone had a glitch for a month and my total engagement got cut in half.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Right now, as I haven’t started my entrepreneurship, there isn’t much I do specifically with the business. I am still branching out and making a name for myself across social media to ensure my business’s success. Right now on Instagram, my photos and modeling do very well, which is the direction I would want to continue further. I have done runway walking but I feel print modeling plays to my strengths and brings me the most engagement and revenue.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel the biggest quality needed for my success is being humble. Yes, you need drive and determination, grit, etc., but personally, if I do become very famous and big but I am no longer the caring, loving, empathetic person I am right now, then I lost myself, which is more important than any money that could come with fame and vice versa.
