Meet Auburn Randolph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Auburn Randolph.

Hi Auburn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I fell in love with photography just after my daughter was born—she’s six now! I started out because I wanted to create memories that she would be able to share with her own kids and grands one day. Since I am creative at heart, I kept telling myself that it couldn’t be that hard to capture memories, right? Wrong! I had an amazing mentor who showed me everything she knew, then I started to hone in my skills. I’ve since studied under some amazing women in the photography industry. Two years ago, I had a crazy thought… What if I was good enough to share this gift with the world? So I did. It’s been a crazy experience for sure, turning my then hobby into a small business. The road has not been easy but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
2019 was arguably one of the hardest years of my adult life. It was as if 29 years of stuff came barreling at me like an out-of-control freight train. That year, between motherhood, trying to keep my head above water at work, and starting a new business- my mental health became a major issue. I often felt like there was this constant battle between the person I was and the person I wanted to be. The need for perfection, coupled with my growing anxiety and depression, left me feeling defeated most days. I’m ashamed to even admit how many times I tried to quit. If it had not been for my AMAZING support system and some pretty awesome clients, ARP would not be nearly as successful as it is today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the proud owner (and photographer) of Auburn Randolph Photography, specializing in families and personal branding. I love helping women tell their story with beautiful images for both their family and business. Since it is my mission to empower women in both seasons of their lives, I welcome all the chaos that comes with capturing real life, candid moments during each family session, as well as creating clean, authentic, and on-brand images for their business.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The pandemic taught me a lot about time, slowing down, checking in with myself, and recognizing that it is ok to just stop for a moment to breathe.
