Meet Berry Williams Jr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Berry Williams Jr.

Hi Berry, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a child, I always wanted to act. I loved telling stories. I wrote a book in 3rd grade and received 2nd place, so I have always been creative and able to tell a story. As I got older, sports became my life, so I went away from my creative side and started using my physical side. My senior year in high school I got into drama class and fell in love with wanting to be an actor all over again.

After high school, I got more into the music scene, following other people’s dreams instead of my own. It felt easier following the majority instead of to do me and follow my individual dreams. For many years I worked odd jobs just to make ends meet, and two years ago, while living in Nashville, I had a coworker inform me about a background role. I fell in love with being on set. My significant other started looking for roles for me in Georgia. I auditioned for a role in a stage play, booked the role, and from that moment forward. I decided to fully commit myself to follow my dream and become a full-time actor.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road. The struggles have been not knowing the players in the industry, not knowing the steps to take, and not knowing who to trust.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full-time actor. I am most proud of the smile I put on my two-year-old face when she watches me on tv or rehearsing my lines. What stands me apart is I have had so many different life experiences, and I am able to take it with me to each role I accept.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Do your due diligence about who is who in the industry. Do your research on the acting schools and the film directors. You should also know who you can receive your reel and credit from for projects you complete. That is how you build your resume in this industry.
