Meet Brigitta Hoeferle of The Center of NLP

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brigitta Hoeferle.

Brigitta Hoeferle

Hi Brigitta, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a woman who’s lived a life brimming with determination and dreams. My journey started in a quaint village near Weinsberg, Germany, where I was born and raised. From the very beginning, I carried a grand vision within me, a vision that stretched far beyond the borders of my small village. I always knew that my dreams were bigger than my surroundings, and I was determined to follow my heart’s calling. Why do I say that with such confidence? I was the leader of all of my friends in our village, and together, we have created some memorable moments.

My life revolves around two pillars of strength: my loving family and my fulfilling career. Above all else, my husband and children hold the key to my heart. The bond we share is something truly special – filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. This harmony between my personal and professional life has been crucial to my happiness. Every day, I pour my heart and soul into my work as the CEO and Master Trainer of The Center of NLP, located in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia, USA. That purpose became very clear to me as I was climbing the corporate ladder in Germany as I worked for a successful international publishing house out of Australia.

As a businesswoman, I’ve always embraced challenges with unwavering tenacity. I’m proud to say that I’ve built successful businesses and sold some successfully over the course of my journey. This journey of entrepreneurship has been nothing short of exhilarating, and each venture has brought me closer to my dreams.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of my productive life, there’s nothing I treasure more than spending time with my incredible family. My husband and I have nurtured a romantic relationship that’s spanned over two decades, marked by love, understanding, and mutual growth. And then there are my children – two remarkable souls who fill my life with compassion and knowledge.

While work is undeniably a big part of my life, I also hold a special place in my heart for the tranquility of the beach. My happy place is soaking up the sun’s warmth on the sandy shores, surrounded by the people I cherish most.

When it comes to facing fears, I’ve learned that they often stem from misconceptions – “false evidence appearing real.” To me, the antidote to fear is continuous learning and the willingness to question the status quo. This perspective has guided me through life’s uncertainties and pushed me to take action in the face of fear.

Of course, I’m not immune to fears myself. The idea of dying without having everything sorted for my children fills me with a sense of responsibility and concern. And while I’ve conquered many challenges, I can’t deny my aversion to the feeling of freefall or my strong dislike for mice.

My strategy for overcoming fears is rooted in self-awareness, embracing the sensations, and finding a way forward despite them. Patience and self-trust play a vital role in this process, allowing me to navigate through fear with compassion and resilience.

Over the years, I’ve managed to check off several items from my bucket list. Moving to a new country, building successful businesses, nurturing loving relationships, and exploring breathtaking destinations like Vieques with its radiant beaches and bioluminescent bay – all of these experiences have enriched my life in ways I never could have imagined.

Among all the highs and accomplishments, the most challenging moment was bidding farewell to my father. Amidst the grief, I learned the value of surrendering control and embracing vulnerability, even in the most painful circumstances.

A quote that has guided me throughout my journey is: “What you think you become, what you feel you attract, what you articulate you generate, and what you imagine you create.”

I believe that genuine connections are built on understanding, and that entails listening on multiple levels. In my recent TED talk, I am reflecting on my journey, shaped by perseverance, growth, and the power of authentic connections, and how it has shaped me into a better listener, wife, mother and business leader.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My road to success has been anything but smooth. But my middle name is “tenacious”. It’s been a journey of relentless determination, marked by challenges that could have easily deterred me. Yet, throughout it all, I’ve embraced each obstacle not as a failure but as a valuable lesson in disguise. I’ve never let setbacks define me; instead, I’ve used them as stepping stones to propel myself forward.

Early on in my career, I realized the importance of feedback. There were times when I didn’t listen to my staff, believing that my own perspective was the only valid one. This shortsightedness hindered my growth, but I didn’t dwell on it as a failure. I saw it as an opportunity to learn the significance of collaboration and diverse viewpoints. Understanding that there are various personality types, each with unique values and ways of thinking, was a pivotal lesson. This newfound insight enriched my leadership and allowed me to cultivate a team that thrived on diversity and innovation.

Two of the most challenging periods in my journey were the global financial crisis of 2008 and the unprecedented turmoil of 2020. These were times when uncertainty loomed large, and the future of my businesses seemed bleak. But I refused to let fear dictate my actions. I navigated through these storms by staying agile and adaptable, by pivoting my strategies, and by remembering that challenges are temporary. Instead of succumbing to the pressure, I sought solutions and seized opportunities that emerged from the chaos.

Both in 2008 and 2020, I emerged on the other side stronger and more successful. These adversities didn’t break me; they fueled my determination to innovate and evolve. I used those moments to refine my business models, explore new avenues, and deepen my understanding of resilience. What some might call failures, I embraced as feedback – insights into areas that needed improvement.

The road to success isn’t paved with unbroken victories; it’s marked by the scars of battles fought and lessons learned. I’ve come to believe that failure is simply a stepping stone on the path to mastery. Each setback taught me something invaluable, shaping me into a more astute entrepreneur.

Through it all, I’ve maintained my commitment to growth and learning. I’ve embraced change and recognized that the only constant in life is evolution. Today, I stand as a testament to the power of perseverance, resilience, and the unwavering belief that every challenge holds within it the potential for growth.

My journey has taught me that true success doesn’t lie in avoiding failure; it’s about how you respond to it. By focusing on feedback and learning by embracing challenges as opportunities, I’ve transformed what could have been stumbling blocks into stepping stones on my path to greatness.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
In the journey of any personal and professional growth, few things are as valuable as finding a mentor or building a strong network. These connections can propel you forward, providing guidance, insights, and opportunities that might otherwise remain hidden, or it can mess you up. A compass is essential for navigation; therefore, vetting is the key aspect when seeking mentors or building your network.

The first step in this process is being crystal clear about what you want and equally important, what you don’t want. Understanding your goals, aspirations, and areas where you seek growth is crucial. Without this clarity, you risk being swayed by well-meaning individuals who may not align with your vision.

Vetting potential mentors and connections involves a process of due diligence. It’s not just about gathering information; it’s about discerning whether the individual possesses the qualities and credentials that align with your goals. Credentials are not just certificates on a wall; they are proof of a person’s knowledge, expertise, and track record of success.

A red flag is when someone wants you to make a decision QUICK or THEY are the ones that are doing all the talking…

When seeking advice or guidance, remember the rule of thumb: only take advice from those who are more driven, knowledgeable, and have a proven track record. Surround yourself with individuals who have walked the path you aspire to tread and look for clear and verifiable evidence! Look for mentors who have achieved what you aim for, as their insights are derived from personal experience, not just theory.

In networking and mentorship, quality matters more than quantity. A vast network is ineffective if it lacks depth and substance. Aim to connect with individuals whose values, goals, and expertise resonate with your journey. These connections should be genuine and based on mutual respect rather than superficial exchanges.

Remember that finding the right mentors and networking connections may take time. It’s a process that requires patience and discernment. Don’t settle for less than what aligns with your vision. While seeking advice from experienced individuals is valuable, don’t let their words replace your intuition and judgment. Ultimately, every journey is unique. Don’t get lured in by empty words.

In a world where information is abundant, and opinions are plentiful, it’s essential to have a filter. Vetting mentors and networking connections based on their drive, knowledge, and credentials ensures that the guidance you receive is not just well-intentioned but also effective. So, choose wisely, seek those who have the credentials, learned from the source, and have a proven track record, and let their wisdom guide you toward your own version of success.
