Meet Carmen Davis of Norcross

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Davis

Hi Carmen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Carmen Davis known in the industry as Carmen D or HairbyCarmenD. I have been a beauty professional for 13 years and I have had the pleasure of working in several cities servicing clients in New York, Virginia , North Carolina , and now Georgia .

Hair was not my first career but ended up being my true passion and purpose. I worked in fashion and quit . In between figuring out what I wanted to do and I what I needed to do I went to Empire Beauty School full time .

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part it has been smooth but the struggles or obstacles for me are usually relocating . Getting acquainted with a new city , putting yourself out there and whatever comes with that

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself a curl activist . My specialty is natural hair but doing everything with textured hair cuts , styling , coloring , extensions. Natural Bridal Hair is something I thrive in as well I have been featured in Richmond Magazine, Blackbride1998, Love Mag, and Munalunchi.

I am also proud of being so lucky to work for NYFW , Couture Fashion Week , Harlem Row and Southern Women’s Show .I have also had my work featured on Orange is the New Black, Tubi, and a few independent films .

I also assisted with the Crown Act Law being passed in Virginia . From that I was able to have an article written about me in The Guardian and be interviewed on Canadian Radio .

I’m also very proud of the community work I do for public schools . I speak at career days and go to public schools once a month and do hair for free for children in need ,
