Meet Cedric Austin of CABBIT Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cedric Austin.

Hi Cedric, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
CABBIT Designs is a black-owned business, founded in 2004 by my mother Vanessa J. Austin, based in Huntsville, Alabama. This home-based business began by establishing a reputation for its handcrafted jewelry, greeting cards, stained glass and three inspirational poetry books inspired by God’s divine word (Live On, Refreshments for the Heart and Cries in the Wind: God’s Answer).

The name “CABBIT” is an acronym for the names of her three sons (Cedric Andre’ Brian Brand It). Vanessa was a 2011 breast cancer survivor. She later lost her fight with ovarian cancer and was called to be with the Lord, December 22, 2014.

Since the passing of my mother, it has always been on my heart to continue the vision and legacy of CABBIT Designs. My mission is to provide a stylish, spiritually-based clothing and accessory brand that encourages others to confidently share their faith through fashion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey as a business owner has come with its own set of challenges such as: creating clothing designs, requesting fabric samples, analyzing data, marketing/advertising and pricing. Being a business owner requires sacrificing a significant amount of time and having a lot of patience.

As you know, we’re big fans of CABBIT Designs. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
CABBIT Designs is a spiritual-based clothing and accessory brand that shares our faith in God with others through affordable, high-quality apparel.

What sets CABBIT Designs apart from other brands is our affordable pricing, high quality material, variety of sizes and expedited shipping.

I’m most proud of continuing the vision and legacy of CABBIT Designs and encouraging others to confidently wear their faith.

CABBIT Designs is designed for customers to proudly proclaim their faith and to help lead others to Christ.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk taking isn’t for the faint of heart. When going into business for yourself, it’s important to have a written plan, be flexible and expect the unexpected.

As the owner of a bootstrap business, I have to pay an extensive amount of attention to the details of the day-to-day operations. Ultimately, the rise and fall of CABBIT Designs is solely dependent on the time and resources I’m willing to commit.

Pricing:

  • $5.00 – $35.00
