Today we’d like to introduce you to Cierra Fly Bobo.
Hi Cierra Fly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born to a 16-year-old mother, and my father battled drug addiction for much of my life. Those early experiences taught me resilience, faith, and the importance of knowing your worth. I started out as an artist performing under the name FLY Musiq, but over time, my platform evolved from music to mentorship.
I realized the same healing and confidence I was seeking were what our girls needed—so I created a space for them to find it. That’s how FLY Life Inc. was born—a nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls to be FLY inside out. What started as a small mentorship group in College Park has now reached over 10,000 girls through conferences, school tours, and year-round programs. We’ve also awarded over $15,000 in startup capital to teen entrepreneurs and built an 8-pillar curriculum focused on purpose, identity, emotional health, and leadership.
As a five-time author, my newest book, 8 Things Every Girl Needs to Thrive in Life—available now on Amazon and Barnes & Noble—extends that same mission, helping girls build inner strength and lasting confidence.
Today, my purpose is still the same—to help girls see themselves clearly, love themselves deeply, and show up confidently in the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. The road has been anything but smooth, but it’s been purposeful. One of my biggest challenges has been funding—learning how to build something meaningful for girls without always having the resources. But the real weight came from meeting girls where they were—some in foster care, others being trafficked just to survive—and realizing how deep their pain ran.
At the same time, I was fighting my own battles. I experienced a miscarriage just days before hosting a FLY Life Conference, and later lost all my hair due to a shocking lupus diagnosis. In those moments, I had to live out the very confidence and faith I was teaching. Hundreds of girls watched me navigate it all, and I made a choice to keep showing up—not perfectly, but authentically.
Those struggles refined me. They reminded me that this work isn’t about perfection—it’s about impact, purpose, and showing young women that even in pain, they can rise.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m the Founder & Executive Director of FLY Life Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls to be FLY inside out. We specialize in helping girls build confidence, purpose, and leadership through our 8-Pillar Curriculum, annual FLY Life Conference Tour, and programs like our Entrepreneurship Academy, where we’ve awarded over $15,000 in startup capital to young women launching their own businesses.
What sets FLY Life apart is that we meet girls where they are—spiritually, emotionally, and socially. We don’t just inspire them for a day; we equip them for life. Through our conferences, mentorship programs, and school partnerships, I’ve had the privilege of speaking to hundreds of thousands of young people across the U.S., as well as students in multiple African nations through virtual engagements.
In addition to my nonprofit work, I’m the CEO of June Marie Brand, a women’s fashion line that helps women style their identity. I’ve had the honor of designing custom looks for inspiring women like Dr. Bernice A. King, Pinky Cole, and Rashan Ali. Whether it’s through empowerment or fashion, my mission is the same—to help women and girls embody what it means to be FLY inside out.
You can learn more about our work at theflylife.org and explore my fashion line at junemariebrand.com.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We’re always looking for partners, sponsors, and powerful women who want to use their platform to pour into the next generation. Our FLY Life Conferences are the heartbeat of what we do, bringing together hundreds of girls for a day of empowerment, education, and community. We love collaborating with organizations, brands, and influencers who share our passion for helping girls become FLY inside out.
Readers can also support by purchasing my latest book, 8 Things Every Girl Needs to Thrive in Life, available now on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. It’s an extension of our mission—helping girls build confidence, purpose, and inner strength.
