Meet Cindy Flynn of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Flynn.

Hi Cindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a professional artist for over 5 years now. I never dreamed I would be because of FEAR! I loved teaching students art. It was a joy! However, I wanted to be an artist and touch people with my creations. Early on, I painted murals in playrooms and nurseries but life got busy and I let my art go. Deep down, I let that word FEAR speak to me quietly until I decided to NOT LISTEN to it! I would never tell people “I am an artist.” Around the age 50ish, I felt lead to begin a professional art career. I stopped listening to the “you aren’t good enough” garbage and decided to go for it! I’m so glad I did! My business Cinflynnart was born and I’ve created commissions for so many clients and sold paintings to people all over the country. Now, if my paintings don’t resonate with people, I’m okay. Art needs to speak to the viewer. My art may or may not be for you or your space. If not, I can direct you to another artist! I love our art community. There is so much talent around. What about you? Are you letting fear stop you? Just go for it. Who cares what others think. As for me, I am an artist.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Just like any other entrepreneur/ business owner, I have faced challenges and will continue to do so. They are part of the journey! Although, I have been accepted into many shows, shops, and galleries, I’ve also been rejected. The no or not yet is a way to guide my next step and lead me to the open door. I take those answers as part of the journey and get excited about what is next on my path!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Southern Oil Painter focusing on the natural world and the beauty all around. Whether it is the softness of a petal in a floral arrangement or the stunning vista of a landscape, I want my viewers to notice and stop and breathe. I paint mostly with knife so the marks and texture become part of the painting’s story and add interest and beauty! I’m incredibly proud of my last 2 collections, Breathe and Garden Party. Several pieces from each collection have sold already. Each collection tells a story. Breathe is all about pausing and noticing the beauty all around especially during those hard or trying times in life. Garden Party is about Southern hospitality and good conversation you can find while hanging out on a Southern porch, patio, or deck. Each collection represents a bit of me and I’m thrilled to share these works with my collectors, clients and viewers.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’d love to collaborate with businesses or other creatives! I can be found through my contact page at cinflynnart.com or by direct message at Cinflynnart on Instagram and Facebook. As far as support, it is lovely when people follow my social media pages and engage by liking, commenting and sharing it with others. Those likes and comments really do mean a lot to us artists! We are often working in solitary environments and we share our work with the social media world to engage with others. My husband, Patrick, is my biggest supporter. He helps me critique my work, set up at shows, do behind the scenes on my website and encourages me daily. My daughter, Savannah, is often sent progress shots for feedback! She and her husband attend all of my shows and events! I’m grateful to be supported by my wonderful shops and stores who carry my work: Blossom and Vine, Johns Creek, Ga, Bird and Brass, Watkinsville, Ga, Ocmulgee Arts, Macon, Ga and LM Frame and Gallery, Marietta, Ga.
