Today we’d like to introduce you to Clara Richardson-Olguin.

Hi Clara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
To answer your questions I really need to go back quite sometime back to 1997 when I move to the US after graduating from Law school.
Since I was little I was very passionate with the bells Arts and I always wanted to study music and theatre but by my parents push I decided to first study law. After graduating I applied to Berkeley College of Music and found my self that I didn’t have the money so I decided to follow a friend living in Atlanta and register to a music Management program at Georgia State where I better my English and starting my merge to the melting pot.
In 2004, Cesar and I meet dancing salsa, and you dance salsa in good floors…right?! We got married and start our life. Cesar started as an installer and years later and with the desire of providing quality products to our client, we decided to open our store.

It took a lot of preparation, classes, accelerators, victories and doubts but finally we started seeing the fruit of the our hard work. We got our certifications and our store went from 150k to 500k in 2 years. CIC FLOORS is a women-owned, minority-owned, and supplier-certified full Retail store that offers Residential y commercial Architectural design and professional installation to all your Floors, Kitchen or Shower remodel. Today CIC FLOORS make 1.6k at year.

Our products go from tile, wood, carpet, and wallpaper. Everything from walls to floors. We offer products that are unique in texture, sustainability, and capacity. We know we delivered what we promised but is because CIC Team is committed to supporting our clients during their projects. We know you can work with any other flooring company but what makes us different is that expertise, passion, and dependability.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a very tough road at first. We were immigrants and Latinos and no one would lend us money or even give us a credit card even though we had very good credit. Insurance companies wouldn’t work with us to provide benefits to their employees either.

It was difficult for me since I have to switch careers and was facing a very bad situation with my husband green card process and my 2nd daughter who was born with a medical condition and a high hypersensitivity to many products in her skin. Alondra, who is 15 today, had already 38 surgeries, she was born with a condition called Congenital Giant Nevus. Looking into helping her with her skin condition we also develop a sense for eco- friendly, organic and sustainable products and since then, my husband and I are committed to promote sustainability, organic, and eco-friendly from textures, food to painting. There is a need for ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS for those clients environmental conscious or those that suffer of allergies and we would like to provide a solution to that.

I am so excited to be a hand to our clients, designers or even Architec that would like to spec more eco friendly products to their clients.

As a women own business I would love to inspire other entrepreneurs to not stop their dreams and passion. Life can change but we were made to excel to move forward to strive!
