Today we’d like to introduce you to Collette Bigsby.
Collette , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
That’s a multifaceted journey. Early on, I had a complicated relationship with my middle name, LeRoyce, which honors my late father, Curtis Leroy. It wasn’t until his passing in 2006 that I fully embraced the significance of that name. In doing so, I chose to carry his legacy forward by naming the umbrella of my ventures The LeRoyce Brand.
What began as a niche, intimate picnic business gradually evolved in response to changing circumstances. When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the event industry, I recognized the need to pivot and reimagine the brand. This led me to expand into beauty products, including lipsticks and lip liners, allowing the business to remain both creative and resilient during a challenging time.
Today, The LeRoyce Brand has grown into a multi-dimensional platform that not only encompasses lifestyle and beauty but also reflects my personal passions in acting and modeling. Each phase of the journey has been intentional rooted in adaptability, purpose, and a commitment to honoring where I come from while continuing to build toward where I’m going.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. As a parent to adult children and now a grandmother, my focus has always been rooted in nurturing and supporting my family. For many years, I prioritized pouring into others, often placing my own aspirations on hold. As I began to invest more intentionally in what fulfills me personally, I realized that achieving balance would be an ongoing process.
I recall a pivotal moment when I told my son that my plate felt full. His response stayed with me—he simply said, “Get a bigger plate.” At first, I laughed, but then it deeply resonated. It shifted my perspective and reminded me that I didn’t have to choose between family and my own ambitions; I could expand my capacity for both.
That mindset encouraged me to return to school and complete my education, which became a significant turning point. From there, I continued to build and evolve my journey, integrating my entrepreneurial pursuits with my passion for acting and modeling. While the path has had its challenges, each step has reinforced my belief that growth often requires both courage and the willingness to redefine what balance looks like in every season of life.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Professionally, I hold a PhD in Innovation and Technology Management with a specialization in Cybersecurity, and that is the focus of my work by day. It’s a field that requires discipline, foresight, and a commitment to staying ahead in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
Beyond that, my life is deeply multifaceted. Outside of my corporate career, I fully embrace my roles as a mother, grandmother, business owner, actress, and model. Each of these spaces allows me to express a different part of who I am, and together they create a well-rounded, purpose-driven journey.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to honor both my professional ambitions and my personal passions without compromising either. I’ve built a life where intellect, creativity, and family all coexist. I’m also incredibly grateful for the strong support system behind me—my family, whose encouragement fuels me daily, as well as my professional network. My agent and talent development team at TDH Talent Unlimited, along with the training I’ve received through T.A.L.O., the Southeast nonprofit dedicated to advancing actors, have played a pivotal role in my growth. I would be remiss not to acknowledge my first acting coach, Jared Wofford, whose guidance helped lay a strong foundation for my journey in the performing arts.
What sets me apart is that I don’t fit into a single box—I intentionally bridge worlds that are often seen as separate. I combine analytical expertise with creative expression, and I pursue excellence in both. That intersection of innovation, resilience, and authenticity is truly where I thrive.
Any big plans?
Looking ahead, I’m incredibly excited about continuing to expand my presence in film and television. One of my proudest milestones so far has been landing my first lead role in Tables Turned, now streaming on Tubi. That opportunity, made possible by the visionary Brionca Williams, allowed me to truly express myself on screen for the first time, and I remain deeply grateful for her belief in me.
As I continue to grow in this space, I’m focused on securing more roles that challenge me creatively and allow me to tell meaningful stories. Of course, like many actors, I have dream collaborations—I would love to one day work alongside icons such as Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, Taraji P. Henson, and Tyler Perry. Their work has set such a powerful standard, and being part of projects at that level would be both inspiring and transformative.
At the same time, I’m committed to expanding The LeRoyce Brand and exploring ways to integrate it into my entertainment journey. A long-term vision of mine is to see my products represented on set in film and television, blending my entrepreneurial path with my creative pursuits. Overall, I’m looking forward to a future that continues to bridge all of my passions—where storytelling, business, and legacy all intersect in meaningful ways.
