Meet Crescent Crater of Springs of Joy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crescent Crater.

Crescent, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I had a challenging upbringing which cause me to leave home at an early age. When I was in the 11th grade, I had a very interesting encounter with God. I was contemplating running away from home, but I was scared of the unknown. So I did what I saw people doing around me I prayed. I prayed an earnest prayer. I said God if you are real I need you to show me and I need to tell me if it is ok for me to leave now. I recall from that moment having a bible close by that I had saved from elementary school. So I reached over and I DID NOT flip through the pages I simply opened it and it opened and these words being screaming at me…..

Psalms 27:10-11 “Although my father and my mother have abandoned me, Yet the LORD will take me up [adopt me as His child].”

In that moment I felt empowered to take this leap of faith and walk away from that situation as a child and step into the unknown and from that moment my life completely changed. God opened so many doors for me and provide for me in such a way that you would think he was a physical parent.

And now at 34 he is still empowering me and encouraging me to be bold and step into new territory that I would have never thought was possible for me…

I am a wife, a mother of three awesome kids, and I recently added a new title to my name business owner!!! I am the owner of Springs of Joy LLC. We offer a full range of personalized childcare options, a full-service nanny agency, and A Children’s Book Recommendation and Activities Blog. I also just finished writing my first children’s book so please stay tuned for that project.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, I have had my fair share of bumps on the road, I have lost some sleep, but not worth having comes easy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

I launched Springs of Joy in Oct after a great deal of prayer. I have always been close to the child care and early education sphere during college and in high school. But in 2017, I found myself at a crossroads. My son had got into a really good school and I needed to be available to him at a moment’s notice. The job that I had at the time would not afford me the flexibility to support my son in a meaningful way. I had to take a leap of faith and walk away from that job for my son’s education. However, I still desired to contribute financially to my household even if it was just a little bit. So one day I prayed and I asked God if he could open a door for me to do so. I was very detailed in my prayer. I said to God I need a part-time job 20 hrs or less, a safe place where I can bring my daughter with me for free, that I would be able to take my son to school and pick him up and be able to have dinner prepared in a timely manner.

The next day I saw an ad for someone seeking assistance at their childcare facility. I met with the owner and we had an instant connection and she offered me the job shortly after meeting. Through the hard decision of walking away from “security” God reveal to me my true purpose and calling which was offering quality child care services to family that are in need of support in the home.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would definitely say that I am a risk taker in certain situations. If it will negatively impact my family or reflect poorly on my values, I try to steer clear of it now at my age.
