Meet Dallas Parks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dallas Parks.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Okay, picture this, it’s prom day and I just finished getting my makeup done. I go look in the mirror to see how pretty it is and it’s TERRIBLE! I quickly jump on YouTube to see if there’s anything I can do to fix it. I instantly get to work on my face, and at the end, it wasn’t the best, but it was better than before. Makeup has always been intriguing to me, but it was at that moment I had to put my skills to work. Before that situation, I would always watch hours and hours of makeup tutorials on YouTube.

There were many times where I would practice on myself or my mom and try so many different looks. I started off wanting to have my own makeup channel to showcase my work, but that changed when I went off to college. While in college, I would look for ways to make money, and doing makeup was one of the best. I then transferred to a school closer to home and focused on building my brand even more. I started off as only traveling and now I have my own suite. I’ve worked with a few celebrities, and my clientele is constantly growing. It’s safe to say that I absolutely love what I do, and I can’t thank God enough for blessing me with this gift.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey as a makeup artist has been the craziest roller coaster ever! There were times where I thought makeup wasn’t my passion, and I almost believed I was supposed to do something else. As soon as everything was slowly taking off for me, COVID hit. At this time, I just signed the lease on my suite and then we went on lockdown. Unfortunately, I had to go months with no clients. So, I can definitely say that this experience has had many twists and turns, but the months where I’m booked up remind me that I’m where I’m supposed to be.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in natural makeup. Even when it’s a bold, colorful look, it’s still is natural enough to wear out. A lot of my clients say they love the way I do brows. It took years to master a good eyebrow, and to this day, it’s my least favorite part in doing makeup, but it’s everybody’s number one. I believe my favorite part of my work is that it’s so natural-looking. I’ve never been a fan of caked faces. I love enhancing someone’s natural beauty, and it’s amazing to say that I mastered creating a bomb look while still looking natural.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
During COVID, I noticed that social media marketing is the BEST way to go! I learned so many different ways to brand myself on social media, and I believe that is how I am always getting new clients.
