Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Joyner.
Danielle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It’s pretty safe to say that my family was very different from the ones I grew up around in Birmingham, Alabama. My parents were franchisees of McDonald’s, so my siblings and I lived in an entrepreneurial-minded household that taught us hard work at an early age.
During school holidays and summertime, we were expected to work in the restaurants with my Mother and Father, and that’s how I developed my work ethic. When I got older, I realized that I would not be required to work if I was participating in team sports, and so that’s how I began playing softball and running track in middle and high school.
In addition to hard work, playing sports instilled in me discipline, which led to many of the productive habits that I exhibit today, like healthy eating and good sleeping habits. My success in track & field, including a Alabama 5A Indoor Track state championship, helped me understand the value of good coaches in your life. To this day, I believe in having a “coach,” like a mentor or a personal trainer, to assist in keeping me motivated and in shape mentally and physically.
My track & field skills led me to receive a scholarship to my dream college, Florida A&M University (FAMU), where I was on the track team my freshman year. FAMU was where I was introduced to real estate as I earned my Florida Real Estate license in 2006 while studying for my Master of Business Administration degree.
When I graduated later that year, my family moved our business to Jackson, Mississippi, where we owned and operated 22 successful McDonald’s restaurants for twelve years. I eventually became an owner of three McDonald’s restaurants while assisting in managing the operations for all of the restaurants owned by our organization. As you can imagine, a business of that nature was very fast-paced at times. I learned so many lessons around customer service, organization and business in general. My hard work and the team that supported me was recognized when the Mississippi Business Journal presented me with the “Business Person of the Year,” Top 50 Under 40 award in 2018 https://bit.ly/BusinessPersonoftheYear2018.
In addition to the lessons mentioned above, I was tasked with selecting decor packages for remodeling several restaurants, partnering with CPAs to establish budgets, and managing the entire project lifecycle from end-to-end. My past experience has given me a foundation for re-entering the real estate industry in Atlanta.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I wouldn’t call it “smooth,” I would call it “humbling.” As you embark on a new career path in a city like Atlanta, there will be challenges thrown in your direction. It’s expected, but it’s a challenge that I embrace. I will lean on the lessons learned from everyone that I’ve worked with throughout my career and the experiences that I’ve navigated in the past. These lessons and experiences are the part of my story that make me the person that I am today.
In addition to leaning on those lessons and experiences from my past life as a successful entrepreneur, I will continue to learn and grow on a daily basis. Real estate is my life and I am passionate about learning all aspects of the real estate market in the Atlanta area, with a niche focus on properties inside the I-285 perimeter and working with real estate investors. Additionally, the process of doing real estate deals really excites me and that excitement drives a constant thirst for continued learning about all aspects of negotiating the best contracts for my clients. My faith is also pivotal in my real estate journey. It has taught me the perseverance to achieve my goals and dreams for myself and my community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Realtor with Keller Williams Buckhead. I specialize in providing a client-focused real estate experience that will help my clients find their next home or investment property in the Atlanta metropolitan area. I work with clients of any price point while offering buying, selling and leasing real estate services. I created the brand name Atlanta Living Space, affiliated with Keller Williams Buckhead because I wanted current and potential clients to understand that I am aware that they are in search of more than just a home, they are searching for a place to live and create memories in Atlanta, a city that we all love. When on-boarding clients, I strive to do an in-depth consultation where I ask questions to narrow the scope of our search for properties. During that consultation is where I really practice listening to their living space needs and desires for their property. My greatest joy is when we find the perfect home within our first three home tour visits! That lets me know that I not only saved my client’s travel time to see homes, but I also delivered on my commitment to be a good listener.
Can you talk about how you think about risk?
Setting a goal for myself is a risk in and of itself. I view risk as an essential factor for all of my dreams to give me the push that I need to be successful. As an entrepreneur, you have to be self-motivated, positive-minded, and a visionary for yourself and your business if you want to be successful. I see myself as a risk-taker every single day as a Realtor, and that is why I am continuously taking classes, reading real estate industry books, and getting coaching from some of the top professional agents in the industry. It is my goal that as the real estate industry evolves to become more innovative and efficient, so do I.
Buying a new home or rental property in a high-paced market like Atlanta is risky too, but I can help you with that. I will leverage my past experience of doing deals in a fast-paced industry like fast food, the organizational skills of running an enterprise with hundreds of employees and my “customer first” focus to be the best service provider that you’ve ever trusted with your business.
I am passionate about real estate and helping clients find a new home or sell their current home. This passion drives me to be a better person and agent for my clients. If someone trusts me with their real estate needs, we will have a lifelong relationship because I’m confident they will never want to hire another real estate agent. They will be my client for life!
